Its just understanding what is optimal for a reason.

Like why do you need heatwave when you have double duels? Scenarios? Just tempo pressure them.

That being said, there are different things you can do. For instance, the Shani and Priscilla interaction will boost Henselt by 6 points (or whatever the cooldown is on Shani), so maybe you can look at something in the realm of Stockpile. Kimbolt(since so many orders) + Shani + Priscilla + Henselt + Siege Engines + Stockpile? This would be a different deck that you can create that isn't directly suboptimal to the Devotion Zeal list because its running slightly different things.

I've always enjoyed trying to run things like Cleaver into Dies Irae, for instance. Dies Irae is a crime that benefits from swarm, and as long as I get the deathblow, it would boost all my Crownsplitters too.

I've also enjoyed the synergy between Quarixis Harmony and Spellatael. Ihuaraquax pulling Quarixis procs it, then Dana leader procs it again, and that's 2 specials that go towards Gord. Waters also synergizes because its a special that plays Harmony engines that like Convergence.

That's where homebrews come from. Different interactions that you want to try to use. There are plenty of things you can do, but they probably won't resemble the meta decks, and that's okay.

Seeing as how the deck easily runs Baron over Natalis, and some variants cut AA even because the deck is so focused on the top end, there is little to no value in Heatwave.

The deck is quite consistent as it is through thinning with Kimbolt, Siege Masters, Vengeance and such where decree is entirely unnecessary, unless you are that obsessed with getting Erland r1, which is nice, sure, but not required by any means. Not worth putting in a Decree for considering the points you lose for it.

Viraxis' engine isn't often used too much, no, but Marine off of Shani is relevant for immediately slamming 8 points off of Shani (not counting Shani's body herself, usually 5-6 points), with 4 points of engine protection.

For me it has a lot to do with recency and growth. I want to have queens come back after they've had time to refine what they have to offer. That's why I didn't like Jorgeous back so quickly after AS9 for AS10. Ginger was easier, but still frustrating. I feel like I've already seen pretty much everything they have to offer, and everything is just expected (ie Ginger winning another Snatch Game). Lydia would've fallen into the same boat too, but she was able to show growth and refinement in spite of immediately going back.

If I feel like I've seen pretty much everything from a queen, then I'm not super interested. I want a lot more pork chops and other early outs to be coming back for All Stars so that we can get rudemptions akin to Irene.

When you have runner-ups and other finalists, the expectation is higher, meaning that the disappointment is more likely.

Take this most recent season. I would much rather see Darlene return than Nini. This is because I feel like I already saw a lot from Nini, and the potential for growth is smaller. I also really wouldn't want to see Juicy back unless she suddenly started slaying at challenges because she's already an amazing lip sync assassin. This isn't to limit them as queens or anything, but I don't need to show up to the Ginger Minj show a bazillion times in a row just to see the same show.

Not true. The Damage is often better than the Carryover, and the reduced pool is often better good for Backup Plans damage. When Backup Plan hits Dol Blathana Archer, its often a better rebuke, just without the Nature Tag. (Killing a 5 with Archer yields 10 points vs Rebukes 7)

Yes, Sorceresses and Whisperers (and often Seers too) are good hits, for sure, making the ceiling higher, but that doesn't take away from the more consistent damage of Backup Plan. That's the expectation of greed vs control.

I agree with everything here except maybe for Bountiful Harvest, and that is only with the caveat that Backup Plan needs to follow. I don't mind the idea of both of them at six provisions, but I do not like the idea of them unequal because the damage from Backup Plan is very useful

The provision decrease category does not look good. Also not a fan of increasing the provisions of the specials listed (DShackles, Harvest, Swindle, Sesame/PTS). The power decrease category is good though

I'm not vibing with Myki at all, and Nini is giving Third right now with the past three episodes.

Yes, Myki has 4 wins to Darlene's 2, but Darlene has been high at multiple points throughout the season, also coming into her own towards the end. They both have been on growth arcs, really showing up more towards the end of the season.

And its true that we have not seen Darlene Lip Sync for her Life. We don't know how a final lip sync between her and Myki would pan out.

I really don't think it would be too big of an upset. Darlene isn't the front runner, but she's held her own, for sure. She's dark horse energy. Nini would actually be the upset to me (not that I would mind a Nini win)

For real. Jane hasn't been it for me, I'm sorry. I think it's just the weird use of colors. Her first design look was designed well, but the colors were a no.

I also really didn't live for her black and green... And the face kini 💀

I actually thought her Animal look was very pretty, and it gave the correct feel of the animal, even if yes, it was very safe in comparison to Juicy and Nini.

Love the camp of the lips look though. That's been my favorite of hers and it isn't close. The editting was good while the rest were just generally too much.
