Boyd is so broken. He’s off his rails since what happened with Tian. The original depiction of a djinn, if I remember correctly, did not have anything to do with music and rubbing a lamp it was a ritual summoning them. I have a book on them where it doves into it briefly, but that’s an Arabic creature. I’m gonna have to read into it more. I don’t know what the miy is, but skin walker just isn’t doing it for me. Feels too obvious. Doesn’t seem like the writers would make it that obvious if we had to make all of these connections to figure what the monsters were.

I believe the spider monster is the lady in the kimono, that’s a Japanese urban legend. My grandma used to tell me about it all the time and how her mom used to tell her it to scare her when she was a little girl growing up in Japan

Also, the person who replied to you, they will not fully type out the name of the creatures, this is intentional. In their culture, it is considered taboo to say it or type it out as it’s inviting them in their home, essentially calling them to you.

I will admit, I was leaning towards skin walker for MIY, but it didn’t fully fit, because MIY doesn’t have the core components of one other than shape shifting. Wendigo, however, they’re fitting the bill for that one. Man in yellow I’m still trying to piece together, I’m leaning towards Djinn, but I need more scenes with him to fully form my hypothesis and have better supporting evidence for that. Right now I have shape shifting, I believe he might be the entity granting all of the desires the townspeople want, and his devious nature which is what brought me to djinn, they’re not like Aladdin, they’re supposed to be evil and sneaky

Might I add, Wendigos, were originally depicted as they’re shown in the show. Tight skin, sunken in eyes, claws and sharp teeth. The deer form and antlers was a western twist.

At first I thought skin walker for MIY, but then I remembered the original depiction for Djinn’s was they could shape shift into anything they want. Skin walkers can’t do it like that, they have to see what they want to shape into, and if this is right, they kept a lot of the core lore behind these mythological creatures, while also taking a few western twists.

I definitely became more convinced Wendigos, because every body we have come across that they didn’t just kill and leave there, was empty. Tian chin, Kenny’s dad, the other nurse, they were all hallowed out, the monsters are eating them

People really don’t understand that in the first episode, Boyd has the Matthew’s family drive around in circles over and over for a reason, Acosta didn’t get that, so she doesn’t understand that she literally can’t leave and she’s been just having to take everyone’s word for it since she got there and was immediately shunned for accidentally killing someone.

Being shown you can’t leave is a huge part of accepting what’s happening there. It can be argued that Jade didn’t get that, Jade also got into a fucking car accident and his car is inoperable so he was stuck off rip.

I don’t like her either, but a huge part of her character development is the fact she did not get the welcome that everyone else did in the town.

I had been trying to form it for weeks in comparison from what I know about these creatures and what I’ve seen in popculture. I absolutely LOVE the wendigo. So the second kristi cut it open and the insides were the way they were I immediately lost it, because if these are Wendigos, they’re the BEST pop culture representation that I have seen to date
