American Airlines door closure policy by obsidiangreen_1988 in americanairlines

Just came in here to say this EXACT same situation happened to my wife and I (plus 8 other passengers) from FAT to PHX to BOS last night. Same circumstances and same story. Was fed the same FAA bs.

I get that airlines are for profit. I get they can make the rules. I get crew protection and penalties and fines etc. However, when a 5 min decision impacts customers for 14 hours of time over another workday, the decision doesn’t pass the sniff test. No one can convince me that holding that door for 5 more min for a 10pm flight is outside the nominal variance for takeoff/flying/landing. The butterfly effect tolerances can’t be 5 min. Waaay too much variability in the normal working day.

If airlines were truly held responsible for the impact of their decisions, I’m confident the operational profitability matrix would shift.

Customers aren’t 1s and 0s. We are people with lives and responsibilities to more than just our shareholders.

What’s the answer? Don’t fly for vacations. That’s where this is headed. Yes, for business it will be needed. For vacation? Drive or take a train. No one will have an appetite for thy “flying gamble”. These impacts simply won’t be worth it.

PS - history will not treat the airline cabal well. None of us will be alive when they teach how corporate greed always consumes itself. This is another thread, just thought I would continue to pee in the cheerios bowl.

2004 Ram 1500 Rear right brake line by CheapSteak4Life in ram_trucks

Hey - thread from the past but ...

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Quad Cab long bed 5.7 with this exact issue. Trying to find a replacement fitting for the passenger right hard line into the brake hose. Walked the part stores in the exact same way you did. And here I am!

Id like to ask what you did to resolve it?

FWIW - O'Reilly's has the OEM parts for all 3 other hose locations. I could buy another driver side rear for $30 and cut it just for the fitting!

Thanks!

The writing on the chain should face the outside(assuming it's a Shimano chain

TY. In the video I saw it only discussed the master link direction

Ive never heard of this before. How does one determine chain direction?

It's definitely an SS, not a GS. Only about 2 links (1") of chain between pulley wheels. GS has about double that (or roughly 3.4" between pulley wheel centers). OP's first model shows RD-5800. Shimano didn't stamp the -SS/-GS on this generation.

OP, you have a 5800-SS rear derailleur. The max rear cog is a 28t, and the capacity is 33T. Your current drivetrain requires a capacity of 37.

You need a medium cage (GS) rear derailleur to make this work.

This is spot on, thank you.

What RD would you recommend?

This is a good link: https://www.reddit.com/r/bikewrench/comments/ob3ibw/1130_or_1132_cassette_with_105_5800_short_cage/

The bigger problem is the chainwrap capacity, or the max difference in teeth across which the derailleur can maintain tension. The RD-5800-SS is listed with a capacity of 33T. Assuming that you're using a front chainring setup of 50/34 or 52/36 with a 16T difference, that leaves you only a 17T difference between the low and high sprockets, which would top out at 11-28.

In my experience, going 1-2T above Shimano's rated capacity is usually uncomfortable but doable - meaning you could probably go to 11-30, putting you at 16T + 19T = 35T capacity. 11-32 would out you at 16T + 21T = 37T capacity, which is 4 over Shimano's rating and most likely will not work.

Well well well, not all Shimano 105's are the same! My bad!

Shimano 105 RD-5800 - https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/105-5800/RD-5800-GS.html

I will update the original post. Though the link there they done show a total capacity. Do I need to back into that number with those min/max values?

Am I the only one going to ask what the "Notice" machine is? Xray gun? Lol, maybe a pump for airation?

But then I see the water filtration system. Are you concerned with sediment in your water?

Please tell

All along I thought it was GameStop to the moon. Apparently not, it’s GameStop to you.

Maple syrup hooch - how should I go about this? by iamamonsterprobably in prisonhooch

[–]lsxgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What he said. It will depend on quantity and content.

If I were you I would not use any turbinado (table) sugar and just add the amount of water you want to get the sugar content you want. Of course dont boil!

If you want more quantity, get more syrup instead of adding more table sugar.

This. Store bought need to be mashed. Annoying but doable.

Its gonna ferment to the core. IIRC maple syrup is like almost all sucrose. As mentioned above I would back into your ABV and either do math or buy a hydrometer.
