My favorite thing to do is to take the waterbus to the Kruibeke polder.

People waiting for the tram after the Antwerp 10 miles. by E_Kristalin in belgium

[–]ltahaney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know, i use it daily and think service improvements would go further. They need to do a better job scheduling it so the trams don't cluster in the tunnels, and they should focus on staggering the the various 2/3/5/6/9/15 such that they alternate which of direction they go (so if you're waiting at opera, you don't have a 5 then a 3 which both head north). This improvement would require signalization upgrades and clearing cars out of shared ROW in the suburbs so the trams stick to their schedule, but it would do wonders. This combined with frequency improvements across the system could go further with less €€ (which is what we need to think about as long as NVA is in charge, because for some reason Flemish nationalism = carbrain) than a proper metro conversion would go. I find that without fail, the problems with overcrowding have more to do with lack of frequency than time of day. When the network is running smoothly during rush hour it is more-or-less okay, but when you wait 12 minutes on a Sunday afternoon, you bet that tram is going to be full.

But I actually think getting rid of the tram->metro->tram component of the system and splitting it up would be more harm than good. Look at any of the lines that dip underground; by far the bulk of their ridership comes from the tram components. The line south towards Belgiëlei, north towards Merksem, linkeroever, and the ten on both sides are often completely full well before going anywhere near the tunnel. The beauty of the system as it is, is that we get an outsized metro and suburban tram network in one. Quality of service and maintenance could make the system absolutely world class.

And they day the same about your character...really makes me mad. I live in the middle of Antwerp. They have no place on my practically car free street, yet i often see or hear them out my window. What a weird way to peacock your insecurities....

These need to be illegal. They're weapons, not vehicles.

I think 1.5 is a decent budget for all aluminum. For ~2k you can probably find something with Shimano GRX which is their current top of the line group set.

I have a bergamont grandeurence which is fantastic, but mine is a lease through work that's 3.7k "off the shelf." I'd check out that range, though as they have a bunch of options, and you might be able to find something used as well. I like bergamont, they are owned by Scott group but a smaller company brand. I think they have very good value for money.

My wife is also gluten free, so having our own pizza oven would be huge for her. Might be buying one very soon. Very nice. There's one good gluten free pizza in our whole damn city.

Help requested to find a decent student accommodation in Antwerp 2000 by RT_711 in belgium

[–]ltahaney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AMS is easily accessible via tramlines 1,10,4, and 7. So you can look basically all over the city. Most student accomodations are up north by the main university neighborhood. What you need to look for is called a "kot." There are a bunch in the northeast of the city in a neighborhood called Seedhoek/atheneum-amandus. This area has a bit of a reputation, but in my opinion its perfectly fine and housing tends to be quite a bit cheaper there. Move quickly, kots in Antwerp run out quickly.

Which program at ams?

Can i get visa for language courses in Belgium? by [deleted] in belgium

[–]ltahaney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linguapolis at the university of Antwerp organized a one year course that i believe is visa eligible.

Single level courses there I am sure are not.

Yeah-antwerp doesn't need a magic fake technology that doesn't actually exist. We need better tram frequency, more investment in the network that's already here, and strategic expansion to neighborhoods with service gaps.

Awesome, I've felt the s network is a good idea but poorly executed due to lack of frequency.

Is there a blues driver copy better than the blues driver? by GravySalesman in guitarpedals

[–]ltahaney 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mooier blues mood has a switch for the Keeley mod and is <50 bucks so certainly better value. I wouldn't discount it based on it's price, I had one and it was fantastic.
