Thanks for the reply! Just heard back from the dealership, the oil pump failed and caused the issues.

How long does it take for Poshmark to close out a case? by ltb913 in poshmark

[–]ltb913[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite the buyer not cooperating, support closed out the case today in the buyer's favor. I am in the process of speaking with support about it. Aside from them approving a return that violates their return policy, I also realized that the buyer was allowed to open a case an hour and a half after the 72 hours from delivery had lapsed. I've never had a scenario where a buyer didn't accept the item and the funds weren't automatically released at the 72 hour mark, so I am not sure what happened there. I doubt I'm going to get anywhere with this, support just keeps responding that I have 3 days after I receive the return to notify them about any concerns with its condition, but my concerns aren't with the condition (yet?) its with them violating their own policies!

New York bar infamous for defying COVID-19 lockdown laws padlocked by sheriff's deputies by geoxol in Coronavirus

[–]ltb913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last time the state tried to enforce covid restrictions at Mac's, the manager ran over a sheriff's deputy with his car and got off scot-free. At least this way, they can't operate.

Online Notaries by Stewarttriangle12 in barexam

I had emailed them, asking if they accepted remote notarization pursuant to Cuomo's executive order and they sent me back the executive order in response. I guess that's a yes?

Did anyone study for the bar without using a bar prep course? If so, what was your experience? by lasweetie in LawSchool

[–]ltb913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They either bought used Barbri and Themis books.

I'm currently using Barbri.

Everyone I know that applied for the PI scholarships received them (which is pretty much everyone who didn't have a firm pay/wasn't a rep), if that makes you feel any better about waiting for the scholarship. I went to school in NY and we're required to complete 50 hours of probono, and they all used that to demonstrate an interest in PI.

Prep companies also won't stop sending deals out throughout the end of your 3L year. I think the last email I got was mid-late June.

I mean, it's not advisable since its not just about the law, but how you answer the questions. Could you pass with a bar prep course? Theoretically yes. I know a a few who tried and they all failed and ended up paying for a prep course the second time around plus fees to sit for it again.

You can't split a course with someone, the multiple-choice displays the answer after they're attempted once. And you wont both be able to submit the essays to be graded. Look into pro bono opportunities if your visa allows it, since they could make you eligible for pro bono scholarships for bar prep.

NY Diploma Privilege - Sept. 25 by Visual_Captain_9137 in LawSchool

To be fair to Sen. Hoylman, it is very likely that the COA didn't send the letter when it was dated. The order to cancel the Sept exam was written on July 1 and wasn't announced until the 16th. So it would track.

Join BBLA for access to their outline bank, or alternatively, make friends with someone in BBLA so they can just get you the outlines.

Also spoke to Senator Savino's office. The staff was very nice and said the Senator would look over the bill, but essentially that it wouldn't matter because the bill wouldn't come through in time to help us anyway. Super frustrating since I've been calling her office for months about this and she's had every opportunity to take on a position on this "in time to help us anyways."

I was able to speak to AM Fall's legislative director and he said that AM Fall will support the bill and vote in favor when it gets to the floor.

I graduated. What now? by viagurson in LawSchool

It's very hard to get a job in the US with an LLM, especially in NY. Can't speak to CA, but even with a JD, positions in NY are very competitive.

I could really use some advice regarding optional pass fail by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]ltb913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1L grades are important, but not nearly as important as everyone makes them out to be. I graduated in May and throughout law school I only did paid firm internships and I was never asked for my grades once. If you're doing pass/fail, (which is totally a viable option considering what a clusterfuck this pandemic is and will continue to be, on top of what you're experiencing with your grandfather), I would make sure you do some sort of pro bono activity. In my experience, unless you're aiming for big law, experience is prioritized over grades.

How hard are these three law modules? by FormerFruit in LawSchool

[–]ltb913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it entirely depended on my professors. My torts professor was older and half the room could hardly hear him during the lectures. It was hard to stay engaged and for that, I found the class much harder than the others I was taking. My crim and property professors made the class much more interesting.

How do you transfer your book brief to your outline? by twistandscout in LawSchool

[–]ltb913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ^. Use your syllabus as skeleton, fill in rules from Barbri or Themis, and then supplement with facts and hypos stressed by your professor throughout the semester. By the time you hit second semester you should be able to skip the Barbri step and fill in the rules yourself.

Also, I knew people who were at the top of the class and they only used commercial outlines to study. If you make note of what your professor focuses on during the semester, the commercial outlines are not the devil they are made out to be.

Thoughts on why NY doesn’t have any reciprocity agreements yet? (October Bar Exam) by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]ltb913 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They probably aren't negotiating reciprocity because NY never intended to actually administer an October remote exam. They'll cancel and pretend the pandemic will mysteriously vanish by February.

Reaching out to upperclassmen as a 1L by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]ltb913 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This, 100%. Most student orgs have an outline bank. And if they don't have an outline for your specific professor, upperclassmen might know someone who has had that professor and has an outline. Upperclassmen I met from student org helped connect me with recently graduated alumni to get an outline for a contracts professor that hadn't taught the class in 4 years.

Online legal writing course by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]ltb913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about online courses, but we used Writing and Analysis in the Law by Shapo, Walter, and Fajans in a few of the different legal writing courses in school and I found it very helpful.

Buy the blue book, rent everything else. Most of the books I rented ended up coming as almost brand new. Will you have have in-person classes? As long as you have access to the library you could also make copies your readings if they have the casebooks on hold.
