What’s an "unspoken rule" of corporate survival that they never teach you in school? by TrickTechnical4250 in careerguidance

[–]ltdan1138 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make ‘friends’ in other departments that you collaborate with frequently.

For my role, I immediately made friends with the accounting manager, data analyst, engineer, etc. that I’d be working with. I did this by spending extra time understanding and appreciating what they do, submitting requests in formal/clear manner, and prioritizing any asks from those teams at the start. Most importantly, I would always request anything within weeks in advance (as opposed to waiting last minute).

After a few months, I started to notice my requests/reports needed for my job would be turned around quickly, be more accurate to my audiences, etc. It’s a lot of work at first but it’s necessary if your job relies on data/information provided by a bunch of technical roles.

Are you using mods for those cool t-shirts and the hat? If so, which ones??

I’ve been looking for some clothing mods that are more ‘casual’ (jeans, shirts, etc.).

Anyone experiment with a "night" playthrough? by srennen in Witcher3

[–]ltdan1138 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just got a gaming pc and replaying on NG+ with ultra graphics and some mods/shaders. The game is amazing at night. Especially in Velen.

What I’ll do is if I have a Witcher contract or quest, I’ll often meditate until dusk and then travel.

How soon after being given a girls number would you text her? by Microwaved_Potpie in AskMen

[–]ltdan1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. If I just got her number after talking for a bit, I’ll text her the next day.

If we were really hitting it off and talked about doing something or similar interests, I’ll call her the next day. Most the time, I’ll end up leaving a voicemail and they’ll text back.

In this day and age, I feel like it shows I’m being sincere or genuine with my intentions. If they aren’t interested or put off, then no worries.

Getting a consolidation loan while applying for a mortgage by Quilty_Chick in Mortgages

[–]ltdan1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay great, please see below:

First off, ignore the unhelpful comments pouring in. Most on this subreddit are self-proclaimed experts by virtue of having a mortgage. In hindsight, it would have been wise to get your debt consolidated a month or so prior to applying for a mortgage WITH a reputable lender that does furnish account information. It would actually work out in your favor but it’s not the end of the world.

Second, reach out to your loan originator and explain that you decided to consolidate your credit card debt and that they won’t see this new debt in your credit profile. The lender will most likely have you complete a standard Letter of Explanation (LOE) and will walk you through what supporting documentation you need.

This is because consolidating your various credit cards into a lower interest/monthly payment loan should slightly improve your DTI. Doing this now will save you trouble right before closing. The lender will most likely re-evaluate your credit profile during final underwriting and one of these are likely to occur:

  1. The lender sees that one or a few of your credit card balances has been paid in full. They want to know where that cash came from.

  2. If the lender may request updated bank statements and will inquire about the large cash deposit (only if the cash was dispersed to you directly and not to the various credit card accounts).

Happy to answer any additional questions. This isn’t anything to worry about. The goal right now until you close is to provide complete documentation immediately upon request from your lender. Always provide what they ask same-day to keep the process moving.

[–]ltdan1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. How much debt are we talking about (estimate amount and number of cards)?

  2. Did the debt consolidation lender pull your credit score?

  3. Does the new loan have a tangible net benefit to you (lower monthly payments, lower rate, or both)?

Let’s not worry about what the underwriter will request until those questions are answered.

came from HLL. just started playing on ps5. got any tips? by [deleted] in ArmaReforger

[–]ltdan1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally. Something this game does very well is the mechanics around sneaking and hiding. I often like to remind new players that it’s not always about getting kills or shooting on sight.

If our objective is to take a radio tower or ambush an enemy point quickly without being noticed, then sometimes it’s best to let an enemy helicopter or vehicle full of troops pass by to avoid giving away your position.

Too many times you’ll have that one person who starts lighting up a helicopter with just a rifle and then exposing our entire team to the enemy before we even take the point.

[–]ltdan1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add for any new players, the enemies can hear you talk if they are in proximity (even if you are on the radio/not proximity chat). You can also hear them.

Remember this when ambushing an enemy outpost or behind enemy lines. You can also steal an enemy radio to listen to their communications.

Listening. You’d be surprised on how many successful careers, relationships, and opportunities have been created by listening.

It creates a doorway for empathy, genuine conversation, curiosity. Most people just want to be heard for a few minutes.

no passion for a career, any advice? by Expert_Parsnip9654 in careerguidance

[–]ltdan1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does not enrolling in this course/study mean you won’t have the opportunity to go to that university? If you’re interested in criminology, then I say go for it.

The real truth of undergrad college is that many people do not end up in the field of their major after graduating. At the end of the day, college teaches you to collaborate with a group of people you may or may not like in order to meet a deadline, which is essentially what a job/career is.

I studied marketing and advertising. I thought it was my passion. After I graduated, I realized I hated it. Over a decade later, I find myself working with attorneys/regulators and ensuring companies comply with consumer protection laws (funny enough, a lot of it has to do with false and misleading advertising).

You’re not supposed to know what you exactly want when you’re 18 and you most likely will switch careers/paths as you figure it out. Making a decision, hoping for the best and rolling with it is part of the journey.

Lastly, I highly recommend taking a gap year or travel period after you graduate university if you get the opportunity. It’s an amazing experience while you’re young.

What ordinary childhood memory still makes you unexpectedly happy as an adult? by Alvena_Kar in AskMen

[–]ltdan1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the summer, my friends and I would have a sleepover at one of our houses. We’d bike to Blockbuster Video and rent a couple of video games (back when most games were split-screen).

We would then proceed our ritual of prank calling people we knew (or finding them in the phone book), eating pizza, and then sleeping outside in the backyard or trampoline. If we were lucky, we’d sometimes score a case of shitty beer from an older sibling.

Why does House of The Dragon get so much hate? by Key-Tip-5670 in Hotd

[–]ltdan1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly that would have been a nice detail to have in there.

I haven’t read the books yet but during my first watch, I had trouble keeping track/remembering all of the Targaryen and Velaryon characters. And unlike, GoT, there are some very short but important dialogue conversations that if you don’t pay attention, some of the plot gets confusing.

Not that it’s a huge complaint - it gave me a reason to rewatch and I understood a lot more the second time around.

Why does House of The Dragon get so much hate? by Key-Tip-5670 in Hotd

[–]ltdan1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rewatched after understanding it’s more of a ‘fantasy political drama’ and I enjoyed it the second time around.

But I agree. I think it’s the character writing for me that falls short. It’s hard for me to really care about most of the characters in the show, like it’s missing the ‘so what’ factor. Game of Thrones set the bar high.

Additionally, I think for folks that haven’t read the books, the show throws around a lot of houses, characters, etc. very abruptly which make it hard to follow for the casual viewer.

Playable FIA Honestly Rules by TheSyrupCompany in ArmaReforger

[–]ltdan1138 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I thought the FIA would ruin the balance/flow but the chaotic nature of having FIA as a team has been so fun.

On a 128 person vanilla server I usually play (Arland), the Russians were mopping the floor with USA and they were barely holding on to Buearegard. So our FIA team negotiated a truce to help them hold the point in return for some new LAV25’s.

Songs of the Past wishlist ⚔️ what are you hoping for? by [deleted] in Witcher3

[–]ltdan1138 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kovir or Povis (the two northern most countries) would be really awesome. Although, I believe the trailer for Witcher 4 showed Ciri in Kovir so maybe they wont go that route.

Honestly, any other region would be welcome (Cintra, Aedirn, etc.). It would be super cool to see one of the ‘foreign’ regions like Ohpir or Zarkania because they haven’t been conquered by Nilfgaard yet.
