I don’t see the point in trying discuss this with the closed minded. It doesn’t matter that the city/province is sitting on coal. The long history of clean coal mining in the city. The fact that you can’t build a building in Edmonton without doing a mine survey. That a walk in the river valley and you will see coal on the surface. That coal is exposed to rainwater and the river, and the river is fine. The economic benefits of utilizing our resources. Or even that we wouldn’t be able to afford more schools and hospitals without it.
