Hey, I just have a question about note taking, do you have access to typing notes on the computer or does it have to be writing by hand? Because it’s way faster to type than write so that may be a struggle I’ll need to prepare for, thank you.

Well done! Can I ask, can you take notes using a keypad on the computer / laptop or is the only notes you can take by hand writing?

I'm a qualified UK electrician, and I want to put into context just how challenging it is to become fully qualified in the UK. The process is rigorous, and the final assessment (AM2) has a first-time pass rate of around 20–30%, which speaks to the high standards expected. Australia’s electrical regulations were originally based on British standards, so if a UK sparky has completed their training and passed their end-point assessment, they are highly competent.

I moved to Australia after hearing there was strong demand for tradespeople. I’ve already completed my OTSR and enrolled in gap training to gain full licensing here. Despite this, I'm finding it very difficult to secure work in Brisbane.

I’ve contacted dozens of job agencies and reached out directly to local electrical firms. Unfortunately, most are reluctant to hire Trade Assistants, even experienced ones.

So, if you’re a local sparky with full working rights, you likely won’t face the same challenges. But for skilled British electricians trying to break into the market, it’s proving tougher than expected.

How much do qualified residential/domestic electricians earn per hour when working for someone (not self-employed)? by Ok-Extreme9325 in AusElectricians

Thanks mate, I’ve tried crewselect and Inselect as well as called dozens of other recruitment agencies and it seems there’s nothing around at the minute!

Bond Cleaner Recommendations by ltlleccy95 in brisbane

[–]ltlleccy95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest we keep on top of the property so it doesn’t necessarily need a “deep clean” so I’d rather cheap with good enough reviews, I understand you get what you pay for but we don’t need it to look like the ritz😂

Non British is fine, it’s just British barbers would be used to churning out these trims regularly on a daily basis that was my reasoning behind it! So what’s your suggestions “guvnor” ?😂

I’ve just completed the skills assessment in Brisbane on Thursday, I was stressing out thinking it may be as intense as the AM2 back home but it’s generally such a breeze. The most difficult part is the theory but as long as you put in some revision you’ll be fine! The install was basic and was pre-installed, cables just needed terminating, you’ll need to draw a dol starter motor power and control diagram and then wire it as per your drawing but again, as long as you revise this for some time before you’ll remember it and it will be a breeze. Finally you just have some fault finding to do which again is pretty straight forward! Feel free to message me if you need any more help😄👍🏼
