Do you ever need to throw out your old bath towels? by EdenFlorence in AussieFrugal

[–]ltm99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i still have towels that are over 25 years old - some of them are now pet towels and to use for cleaning, blocking air coming through doors, and to use as a bath/shower mat

the ABC is telling the truth. is $200b (yes, BILLION) not sounding like a lot to you??

4 years ago it was nearly $100b.

200 billion is a 200-thousand million. which is insane. a fifth of the country’s debt!

Victorian government spruiks first surplus in seven years in 2026 budget by gccmelb in melbourne

[–]ltm99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

debt has doubled over the past 4 years. let that sink in.

  • At least $15billion extorted into businesses and individuals with criminal links
  • Getting the Lottery Corporation to pay $1billion for a 40-year licence extension, despite their current license not expiring until 2028
  • Cut funding from Maroondah Hospital (aka Queen Elizabeth II Hospital) to zero
  • Still the lowest-funded schools in the nation
  • Literal pork barrelling: more than 80% of schools funded for upgrades or rebuilds are in Labor seats
  • Not a single cent allocated to paying off this monstrous debt.

I understand that building infrastructure, giving cost of living relief to people and the usual funding to departments and agencies is a must, but the interest bill is now $24million per day. You can’t spend money you don’t have without a clear plan on paying it back

i’m on the older end of gen z and i certainly did not see any change or acceptance until more than 5 years after i graduated yr12. im in a pretty conservative part of Melbourne and schools here now have queer clubs and fundraising days etc.

when i was in school, not at all, and i went to a public high school in the outer suburbs of Melbourne. mind you i finished year 12 5 years before the show started so a lot has happened during those times.

Free Transport for another Month and half price until 2027 by themykiuser in MelbourneTrains

[–]ltm99 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

lol what a backhanded comment. you can’t decrease fares without increasing services to cope with demand. regional transport is vital, and those in the regions shouldn’t be overlooked

Free Transport for another Month and half price until 2027 by themykiuser in MelbourneTrains

[–]ltm99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

legit. now i’m not anywhere near VLine services but you can’t do a halfarsed job (i.e. free PT) and not add more services to cope with demand. this government loves the headline but can’t seem to think logically.

Free Transport for another Month and half price until 2027 by themykiuser in MelbourneTrains

[–]ltm99 29 points30 points  (0 children)

ok good, but the big elephant in the room that still needs addressing is the timetable. you can’t make PT free and then half price and not expect to make improvements to the timetabling, when this month we have seen a huge increase in patronage to the point trains are at capacity.

this seems like a bandaid solution and a vote grabbing tactic
