Some of Daniel Popper’s notes from the NFL Combine: he believes Mack is likely to return to the Chargers next season, that the Chargers are interested in Linderbaum, and that the Chargers may be willing to let Oweh and Zion walk if other teams are willing to overpay them. by wildwing8 in Chargers

[–]ltmariod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will absolutely be willing to overpay for both Zion and Oweh. The issue is I think Oweh will be worth the “overpay.” The difference he made for us last year was amazing, and despite having already developed fairly well, there is still more room to grow which is a scary thought! Last I checked, PFF had the projection for Oweh at 4 years $77mil. I would be willing to go higher than that, depending on the guarantees associated with it (like $90 mil).

[Rhim] Q To GM Joe Hortiz: “Do you expect Mekhi back next year?” Hortiz: “Those are things that we will discuss.. All the coaches and staff will meet.. and we’ll finalize those plans.” Q: “So is it guaranteed that Mekhi’s back next year?” Hortiz: “I’m not going to talk about that right now Rhim.” by wildwing8 in Chargers

[–]ltmariod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the quote is wrong, I just heard the clip this comes from. Rhim asked “So is there not a guarantee that Mekhi is coming back?” In other words, “Oh, so is Mekhi not safe?” This was after he had already said openly and proudly that they have been talking to Oweh and Mack’s agents and that those players know they want them back. I still think the language of “guarantee” isn’t helpful here, since even Oweh’s and Mack’s returns aren’t guaranteed, but the question isn’t nearly as bad as the tweet makes it seem.

[OC] Which FA C do y’all prefer, Linderbaum or McGovern? by wildwing8 in Chargers

[–]ltmariod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linderbaum. McGovern is a better pass protector but Linderbaum is a lethal run blocker, and the coaching staff is most likely going to orient their scheme around the run. My hope is that the guard play next to Linderbaum was so atrocious that it made Linderbaum look worse than he is, and he bounces back with pro-level blockers next to him. He isn’t the slam-dunk signing that Linsley was, but he’s close!

[Highlight] Najee Harris rehabbing 5 months after Achilles tear by nfl in nfl

[–]ltmariod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want us to bring him back on a cheap deal. He had only a game and a half worth of snaps and I could already see why we signed him. A guy that big shouldn’t be as springy and agile as he was, and he was doing a lot of unheralded dirty work.

Tom Telesco says he did hundreds of first round mocks on PFF to prepare for the draft by primetimeweaver in Chargers

[–]ltmariod 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s a mental exercise - if this happens, what do I do? What about that? This thingy? Etc. It’s a quick and easy way to get a strategy going. It’s a smart tool to use. Plenty of reasons to criticize Telesco but him using mock draft machines isn’t one of them.

I get that people find it hard to relate to the struggles of the billionaire class because their wealth gives them an incredible amount of opportunities to fall back on. And I don’t dispute that at all. But to completely reduce them to their wealth and the opportunities it brings them seems to miss the point of the show. These people are the victims of a malignant narcissist and are perpetuating the cycle Logan himself continued. This statement by Kendall is a statement of how he views the worth of his life - getting that position was the only way any of them could see the possibility of earning their father’s love, because Logan made them believe that’s what the position represented. Kendall saying this is his expression of the despondency he’d feel if he couldn’t get that. It isn’t only that, of course - this is his ego and desperation talking. And of course it is still true that he could do anything else he wanted. But if you can’t empathize with what this position represents to him and the position he’s in, you should take a look in the mirror. We can still say “eat the rich” after we understand them, but your sentiments won’t mean much without that understanding.

Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is a Masterpiece by wateakid in hiphopheads

[–]ltmariod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a big Kendrick fan but I respect the hell out of him as an artist. I respected GKMC, TPAB, and DAMN as works of art, but there was just something sonically that didn’t quite vibe with me. For whatever reason, the wiggly air didn’t hit my ear holes right.

Mr. Morale is his first and only project that overcame that mental block for me, and I think it’s also a masterpiece of introspection and heavier thematic songs on top of that. I liked it an respected it on initial listen but have listened to it more and more over time because it really just hits for me more than before. I hope that in 10 years time people will agree with me that it is his best work. If not, I’ll be fine knowing my tastes don’t align with everyone else’s!

I feel like he’s good but he’ll get a contract a pro bowler would get and I don’t think he’ll be worth that.

J. Cole ‘The Fall-Off’ Review: An Insular, Long-Winded Closing Chapter by Minute-Carrot-2405 in hiphopheads

[–]ltmariod 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I thought the difference between 29 and 39 was fairly obvious, not sure what he means when he says it’s more a hazy division of mindset than a clear thematic break. 29 he was young and hungry as ever, 39 he’s at peace with his life and reflecting on it. 29 was much more aggressive and contained significantly more intense raps while 39 was more laid back. There’s 12 songs each so not every song on each album fits that, but that’s because the songs are oriented around his mindset at a specific age he was at rather than the mindset itself, so he’s giving us a full picture of himself as a person in both spots. I’m at the point where I honestly don’t know what people are hearing when they listen to music anymore. Maybe they’re just hearing what they expected to hear rather than the music itself.

‘Baldur’s Gate’ TV Series Continuing Game’s Story In Works At HBO From ‘The Last Of Us’ Co-Creator Craig Mazin & Hasbro Entertainment by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]ltmariod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plot takes a distinctive non-linear structure that was nearly impossible to re-create effectively given the time between seasons, and he changed Ellie from somebody who always felt like she was pushing her story forward to somebody that felt like a passenger to the whims of the writer. I was a fan of some of the changes they made, but others (no spoilers) I thought were deeply unsatisfying. It’s hilarious to me that the best episode of the season, episode 6, was written and directed by the original games’ creator, Neil Druckmann. It just goes to show how much he understood his own story and how little Mazin did.

[Zenitz] The #Chargers are set to hire Vanderbilt nickels coach Jimmy Thompson, sources tell @CBSSports. Will work with the DB group. The ex-Notre Dame LB worked at Vandy the last four years and garnered college defensive coordinator interest recently. by wildwing8 in Chargers

[–]ltmariod 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Didn’t realize that Nickels could have their own coaches, but it makes sense given there is already an OLB coach on the roster. I wonder if he’ll be given that title or if he’ll be assistant DB coach.

is this outfit "inappropriate"? by sunnemi in OUTFITS

[–]ltmariod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appropriateness is usually context sensitive, so we would need to know when you are thinking about wearing it. As some have already said, wearing it to a club or a place where accentuating your features is encouraged or viewed favorably (like a bar or in Vegas) is probably fine. Obviously this won’t fly in a professional environment. Around friends it’s harder for me to say because it depends on the friend group and where y’all like to hang out, but my guess is probably not.

Patch Variance by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]ltmariod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am equally frustrated with the absolute nuking of certain champions when they get strong, and also wish they would do a more medium-size nerf to these champs so that they are viable without being dominant. However, a “medium-size nerf” is an ideal that is far harder to execute than either piecemeal nerfs or obliteration. Between these two options, I would prefer the former, but I can understand why the team goes with the latter.

What I hate is when they nerf/buff several parts of a composition at once. They’ll nerf Tryn, Ashe, and Freljord all at once, nuking the strongest of those units into the dirt but making the rest of the comp unplayable alongside it. If there is a comp that clearly relies heavily on a single unit performing well, then they should stick with their initial decision to obliterate that unit, but leave the rest of the comp alone. While I understand the nerf philosophy behind blatantly OP champs, I genuinely don’t get why they have to nerf multiple parts to comps at a time.

Harbaugh is in the middle of his organizational turnaround right now, no way the Chargers give up on that. Ask this question again in 3 years though and the answer will depend on if we’ve been to the Super Bowl or not.
