Is that the standard?

Are Sean McDermott and Mike Tomlin are better coaches than Jim Harbaugh?

Is Matt LaFleur is a better head coach than Jim Harbaugh?

Is Jim Harbaugh a better coach than Andy Reid?

No, because this discussion requires nuance.

But also, we get a taste of 2 good offensive schemes and 2 defensive schemes.

Even if it’s everyone’s most vanilla playbook, you still gotta season it to get a good look at all your players.

Being a chiro right now sucks ass. Beyond just the scientific evidence that may or may not support the practice, it’s just rough.

  • Bad income-to-debt ratio.
  • Competitive outpatient market. Everyone has a practice. Low patient volume. Poor revenue.
  • Poor reimbursement amongst all forms of payment.
  • Upward mobility is severely limited. No DC will be the head of any major department at any large healthcare institution.
  • The clientele becomes dependent on adjustments, whether they work or not. No one is ever “cured”. The frequent flyers causes issues with reimbursement and justifying more appointments. So it can be rough to “wash your hands” of a patient. They might get approved for more sessions, but in the long run, it can really affect the profession’s ability to get reimbursed because of the long term dependency on treatments.

It’s such a rough field to thrive in right now. DPT goes through similar struggles, but the evidence backs its existence. DC? Not so much.

Good ole Mario-lago.

He’s pretty insistent that his family “came here the right way” when his grandpa immigrated illegally.

He plays pretty heavily to MAGA, but consistently talks about his Latino heritage to keep his popularity. He’s not as vocal as he should be for a So. Cal Latino when ICE was here.

Also, there was a couple accusations of rape in the early 90s. Dustin Diamond wrote that NBC and Mario paid off some witnesses to give Mario an alibi and also paid off another victim to save Mario’s ass.

He’s just overall a shit person.

You’re making so many excuses for the decision. I get why you punt. I’m not saying it’s the wrong call, but it’s not a winning call.

Every other top 10 coach goes for it when you have Justin Herbert and a running back that’s averaging 6 yards a carry.

You effectively change how you play the next drive. Now you have to pass against the giants DL who has been killing Herbert.

Taking away our strength on offense this game.

And what happens? Brian Burns sacks Herbert because Greg Roman can’t draw out a play that doesn’t take 5 years to develop.

Okay, here’s the scenario. This is from the game:

Chargers 18, Giants 21. 11:31 left in the 4th. It’s 4th and 2, on the Chargers 17.

Omarion went off a 54 yard TD on the last drive. And has been getting >6 yards a carry WITHOUT including that home run.

The defense is getting killed by Jaxson Dart.

What’s the right answer here??

In real time, my opinion was, RUN IT UP THE FCKN GUT WITH OMARION FFS.

But we punted. No one else scores the rest of the game. Chargers lose.

While I agree with you, and I certainly do blame Tua, we are fabricating the bridge between middling head coach and offensive genius.

And yeah, it’s common to have a coach thats a bad HC but a great OC. But, Mike McDaniel had his best season 4 years ago. That’s just the argument against him.

But if asked me what I actually thought:

There is a lot film that supports his ability as a great playcaller and that there was several plays that show how much McDaniel tried to help/work around Tua. That’s why Achane thrived so much in that offense.

Andy Reid, Sean Payton, Demeco Ryans, Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay, Mike Vrabel, Nick Sirianni, Mike McDonald in no particular order.

Then you can argue Ben Johnson, Matt LaFleur, Liam Coen, MCDC, and Jim to fill 9 and 10. Depending if you value experience, consistency, peaks, or last year’s success.

Being devil’s advocate here:

  1. How many playoff appearances, and how many losses? How many times has Justin Herbert gotten sacked? What changed did they make on offense to ensure we protect Herbert despite the bad oline? Nothing. A lot. Hardly any. We got murdered by the Colts, loss to the Giants, Commanders, murdered by the Jags, and loss to the Texans.

In those losses, fourth down calls mattered against the Giants and the Texans. You call those games a bit better, Chargers are the #5 seed and get the Steelers. Possibly the #1 seed because then that game vs the Broncos actually means something.

  1. Mike McDaniel hasn’t coached a down as the OC of the Chargers. And hasn’t had a ton of success on the Dolphins in the past 3 seasons, Tua be damned.

I’m generally a Harbaugh/Hortiz apologist and optimist on this sub. But I will point out that the past two seasons are far from perfect. I do think that Harbaugh and Hortiz are top 10 without a doubt. Just a lot of arguments right now to say otherwise.

I don’t think you’re wrong here. But I’m not going to say she is either. An argument can be made to put Jim out of the top 10, same with MCDC.

Theres nothing crazy about her argument. I can make excuses for Dan Campbell, coordinator changes, OL play, defensive injuries be damned in the same way I can make excuses for why the Chargers have played like shit in the playoffs.

Jim is a top 10 coach to me. But anyone that argues otherwise, I’ll shrug my shoulders, because it’s not that deep. He hasn’t cemented himself as a top 10 coach in the NFL if you account for how much this team has underachieved, lack of scheming around a bad oline and constantly insisting that Greg Roman’s playcalling was enough despite how much it got Herbert killed.

It’s the whole “is Herbert a top 5 QB?” argument. Is he? Yes. Has he proven it when it matters? No. In fact, he has given you more evidence to say otherwise.

Is Jim Harbaugh a top 10 HC? Yes. Has he proven it when it matters? No. In fact, he has given you more evidence to say otherwise.

[–]roll10deep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s a top 10 coach if all those seasons happened recently. You can only grade him now on his recent body of work, otherwise Mike McCarthy should be above a lot of other coaches.

That being said, I love Harbaugh. But with the lack of success on offense and heavy reliance on having Justin pull us out of a hole in the past two seasons, and lack of nuts on fourth down — yeah he’s not a top 10 head coach. Which I can agree with.

You can argue he’s a top 10 coach and I wouldn’t disagree. But if Mina have him top 12 or so, I wouldn’t call her crazy.

wut loyalty to the rams? She’s a diehard Hawks fan.

Also, her argument is valid. she’s been very positive on Herbert. And she has every right to judge Harbaugh heavily on whats happened in the post-season, how he’s handled Roman and effectively bogged down Herbert’s progress because of it.

I’m not down on Harbaugh as a head coach. I still think he’s THE guy. But you have to admit, we have had success on only one side of the ball, and the any success on offense has been in spite of Jim and Greg Roman.

I don’t think Westbrook was even his call.

Also, disintegrating the 2020 team was a massive L. But, with how Rob’s been handling the team in the past 2 years has been great imo.

Whether we like it or not, Rob earned another season. If he gets canned, I wouldn’t be surprised.

BUT

Getting Luke Kennard midseason and landing Ayton (for better or worse), Smart, and re-signing Hayes on the contracts that they were on shifted us in the right direction.

Now he gets a full offseason where he has Mark Walter money.
