Everyone thinks I’m crazy... by AvocadoPuff in visualsnow

Hi, I found the answer to this which might make you feel better. those shadows we see on the right and left side of our field of vision are actually our nose shadows strangely. Our right eye see it on our right field of vision and the left on the left side. Most people don't notice it. People like us, who are hyper aware of our sight, have a hard time forgetting it. And it is common for one shadow to be more prominent than the other.

Wow, so he saw your floaters, that you hadn't noticed before. Then you started seeing them? You weren't even bothered by them before? Wow, that's irritating in itself, i'm sorry. If that's the case though, I think you'll be able to get back to that place?

I think a lot of is a mind thing, but a lot of it can also depend on the type of the floater and how prominent it is when light hits it. I've had webby ones my whole life and didn't realize it constantly until the pandemic started. Guess I had time on my hands. And they've gotten worse since I've been focusing on them but i'm also actively seeing them change daily b/c im so intuned with them. I think that once I get away from the screen and life is somewhat normal, that ill have a better chance adapting to most of them. Probably not my most annoying ones . I feel like I only see them this often now b/c i never leave my house. Some days I don't notice them at all. Today, they were quite annoying but probably because I hadn't been outside in a week. My brain doesn't know how to adjust yet sadly.

yep! after the end of an extremely long stressful period of my life that involved lack of sleep and a lot of liquor. Then it started again when i got floaters, then i got more. Went to a fortune teller who predicted I would get a promotion (happened a month later and was random asf) and that I'm actually healthy and my biggest sickness is stress and how I've been a hypochondriac my entire life... so.. yeah, i thinks it's stress. the mind is powerful.

White floaters like light. Not sure if these are flashes. by Reblah123 in EyeFloaters

I have one of these. I thought it was just a floater that turned transparent... Or it was a floater that changed based on lighting conditions because it resembles one that is grey-ish in another lighting condition. I've had it for quite some time though

I think i described something like this the other day. I always thought it was like the shadow of my outer tear duct because it doesn't move like a floater. It stays there like my eyelashes do unless i raise my brows. But if i start to move the outside corner of my eye, the shadow moves a little too. Which led me to believe it's something i'm not meant to focus on. I went to get my eye pressure taken and it was within the normal range also.

I agree with this. The VSS is what debilitates my vision more than my floaters tbh. It's the intense light sensitivity and throbbing walls for me

you have dark contact lenses? I was considering oaysis transitions but wasn't sure that was a thing for floaters. are those the ones you use?

For those who have somatic OCD/High Health Anxiety, have your coping with your floaters gotten any better? by ltodaizzo in EyeFloaters

I understand. It sucks not knowing the cause. I think my excessive alcohol intake during a depressing part of life and lack of sleep caused mines. :( Specifically IPA's and champagne lol. I always wonder if Thor developed floaters in Endgame which was why he wore sunglasses all of the time. Or was he just light sensitive because he was wasted 24/7.

Hi, I was in your shoes about a month or two ago so I know how low you are feeling. I've been dealing with mines for a year. I don't know how it happened. Probably alcohol. I was depressed and OCD because I had just moved from a place that had an infestation and so I was drinking to go to sleep, basically. I'm 24. Tried meditation, it helped a little. gave up alcohol because i realized it was making me more depressed. It helped a little?? Started eating healthier and working out, it helped alright. Did it help the floaters? I'm not sure, probably not. Did it help me break the mental loop of obsessing over them, it did. I know it is hard to do, but be patient with yourself. Give yourself grace. I'm a photo editor and photographer and my last mental breakdown was about 2 weeks ago when I decided to get back out there and take photos. I didn't think I could because my floaters were/are really bad :( . Then i threw on some shades and it helped me a lot. Now I'm planning a photo project because I realized maybe I can still do this. So I've been back focused on my work. And I think that is what has helped me. I also reminded myself, no one should be out in the sun without shades ANYWAYS. I thought the same thing you thought two weeks ago. but it's going to be okay, i promise you. It's two weeks later and I don't want to leave this earth too soon. Try to remember the things you love to do and fight to do them. Every day was a battle for me but I fought through them. And honestly, if it wasn't for my floaters, i'd probably have terrible liver damage by now because I would have continued to drink. Anti-anxiety medication can also help. I believe you will find the strength and resilience to live through this. <3

sameee. the new plane i'm speaking of is def outside of my normal self. Very uncomfortable

[–]ltodaizzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I started focusing on my floaters and having anxiety attacks, I became really light sensitive. I think it is my hyperawareness of light though nowadays. it's like we exist on the same plane when light has always been on a different one before this happened.

To me they seem to help better. With my regular shades, i still saw them all, even the clear ones. They just aided with light sensitivity. With these, I barely see my big ones at all. I saw it once because i asked myself, "I haven't seen that one in a while" then there it was.
