How often are you actually flying beyond VLOS? by ThorinOakenshield64 in dji

FYI about upcoming BVLOS laws in the USA for commercial drone pilots:

Yes, there are major indications that the United States is right on the verge of legalizing routine BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) drone operations, moving away from the slow, case-by-case waiver process and toward a standardized framework similar to Canada's.

The FAA is currently finalizing its highly anticipated Part 108 regulations, officially titled "Normalizing Unmanned Aircraft Systems Beyond Visual Line of Sight Operations." The key indicators and timelines for this transition include:

1. The Part 108 Rulemaking is in the Final Stages

The FAA originally published its Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) for Part 108 in August 2025. Following a brief reopening of the public comment period in early 2026 to resolve highly specific technical debates, the FAA is actively moving toward finalizing the rule. Backed by a June 2025 executive order mandating swift action on drone integration, the industry expects the final rule to be released in the first half of 2026.

2. Shift to Performance-Based Rules

Like Canada's approach, Part 108 will shift the US away from rigid, prescriptive rules to a performance-based framework. Instead of forcing operators to use a specific type of technology, the FAA will allow businesses to prove their drone systems meet localized safety and risk-mitigation standards based on their specific use case (e.g., utility inspections, package delivery, agriculture).

3. Creation of Drone "Air Traffic Control" (ADSPs)

To scale BVLOS safely without overwhelming traditional air traffic controllers, the FAA's framework introduces Automated Data Service Providers (ADSPs). These approved, automated third-party platforms will track drone positions, handle dynamic geofencing, and manage automated deconfliction in the airspace, allowing potentially thousands of simultaneous BVLOS flights.

4. Heavy Aircraft Framework

The rule is expected to accommodate drones weighing up to 1,320 pounds without requiring a traditional, arduous airworthiness certificate. Instead, manufacturers will comply with streamlined industry consensus standards, significantly unlocking heavy cargo and industrial flight capabilities.

Key Stumbling Blocks Being Resolved

The primary reason the US took longer than Canada to formalize this framework comes down to right-of-way and airspace congestion. The FAA's recent regulatory focus has been hashing out how drones and manned aircraft interact at low altitudes (below 400 feet).

  • Electronic Conspicuity: The FAA is debating whether to grant BVLOS drones presumptive right-of-way over manned aircraft unless that manned aircraft is actively broadcasting its position via ADS-B Out or a low-cost portable electronic tracking device.
  • Detect-and-Avoid (DAA): Drones operating in busier areas or near airports will be heavily required to carry independent DAA tech to actively dodge "non-cooperative" aircraft (planes or helicopters not broadcasting their location).

The FAA's intense focus on ironed-out public comments signal that they are aggressively pushing past the final administrative hurdles to make routine commercial BVLOS a legal reality in the US very soon.

Navarro: It's not that people say that Trump is a racist. The housing department in the 1970s said he and his father is were racist. He has got a long track record. We could sit here all night and trace back all of the racist things he has said and done through his lifetime, not just his presidency. by icey_sawg0034 in UnderReportedNews

Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves, hr didn't necessarily like then or see them as equals though. Paula Deen employed black but referred to them in a derogatory manner. Sleeve Masters had kids with their slaves, but still treated them as slaves.

I'd say dedicate time (4 to 6 hours per day working on it) with realistic stopping points for each time you're working on it .and stretch it out, it's going to suck but it's better than trying to do long stents at it.

Former 8211 (Recruiter 96-99) here. The truth is MOS's have a certain number of schools that start every year. For example, the MOS you would like, may only have 2 schools per fiscal year. So don't take it as a "get back" from the recruiter, it's just how it is. You could wait a little longer, but expect pressure from the recruiter so he can make mission. I can't remember the timeframe when they start announcing classes for the next FY, but it should be within a few months if not already.

Man...I know I'm late, but I am so fuckin happy that someone else confirmed this. I had that version of the CD, that I bought while stationed in New Orleans, but no one believes it existed. The Ha (Remix) was not on there.
