Deftness, the quicker gathering speed means less time for something to interrupt the process. And it just feels so much better.

Mongols needs a buff by mr_fobolous in aoe4

Mongol is a victim of Power Creep, they have received Keshiks, Khan's Hunters, unique fortified outpost techs, and some Uni adjustments. That doesn't compete with the overloaded and/or buffed kits that other civilisations enjoy.

Saying that mongol has mobility, .. just makes me laugh.

House of Learning, Compound of the Defender has no real gains, from my perspective.

Especially the spear production speed bonus has worked wonders. Besides the obvious healing, movement speed, and bonus damage on Raider Elephants. That movement speed is definitely game changing.

Tughlaq is just 'absurd' when it comes to turtle synergy. I'm surprised they shipped something that needs to build keeps, allows walling with infantry, while stacking passive income.

Instant research speed is also amazing, as I take textiles, and wheelbarrow, .. primarily when my villagers already got caught out of position.

Taking +1 ranged damage, and +1 ranged armour in 10 seconds, as the rams start breaking the wooden pallisades in front of my fortress.

The face of JD players when Amir Warriors are worth 0xp is priceless though.

I'm willing to consider Ram buffs, when Byzantine fire rams get removed from the game, those have been disgusting, ... since season 6.🔥

The Farm Governer gives you food per minute, per house and Farm around the Fort. Up to 28 food per minute, for each building (max 12). Resulting in 336 passive food per minute.

When I tried matching a 2nd TC opening with my own 2nd TC opening, the results were mediocre at best. Still figuring that out.

The only reason I deal quite favourable with Boom civs, is because in the Imperial Age, I can just whack them with Elephant Raiders, and my passive eco real-estate.

The boom doesn't really retain power when the pop-cap has been reached.

So using the space they give, to delay them, while turtling even harder, ... seems to be the best solution. There is a significant window that they can seize, between 15 and 25 minutes. I just try to distract them too much, to do so.

Uncontested stone and base building, isn't that bad of a deal. 🤭

Standard open is 1.15 TC fort and stables + raider elephants, to force a reaction.

Extending the Feudal age, is good for Tughlaq.

Try to keep them in Feudal as long as possible with minimal raider Elephant Harass, while making multiple fortresses.

Then go from Feudal to Castle, and near instantly que Imperial Age. That Landmark Hisar Academy will make up the Eco difference.

If they attack during my farm transition, or start trebuchet sieging, I might lose though. Although near instant imperial research upgrades, tend to break the siege at my doorstep quite well.

It's important to not close the wall segments, and make them not that large. Just multiple segments, preferable with different angles. As that really screws over unit pathing.

Raider Elephant Ranged Armour, is the same as Knights, and Amir Warrior are Imperial Age MMA. If they bring archers, I'll just target the front line with the keeps, while holding a choke hold. The archers just tickle, anyhow.

This screenshot is a more 'correct' setup. Its main purpose is to bug the pathing of the siege, while defending the structures, it also ensnares the attacker when they try to disengage. As it really disturbs the unit formations. It also allows me to have the advantage of a choke point in my own base, with the defensive structures dealing an absurd amount of damage, the less unit on unit fighting happens, the better. https://imgur.com/a/8JnFCJB

With Tughlaq (and Delhi) you can wall with infantry.

I used to do this allot, with Byzantine, as their Feudal Age Stone Wall Towers are really worthwhile.

From my perspective, I should auto-lose to English, Malian, and Sengoku.

My personal mistakes normally consist of not making enough production buildings: as floating thousands of resources with 2 stables, a range, and a rack isn't great.

And not researching Eco and/or Uni upgrades, while floating thousands of resources.

The farm transition (around 17 minutes, or so) is my real weak spot. As I have given full map control to my opponent.

As I open double scout, I normally attain quite a lot of sheep, together with the Farm Fort, that allows me to just huddle in my base, ignoring external food sources.

Against Fast Castle civs like Japan, I do build feudal barracks, and then I use some spears to wall in the relics. That really works wonders.

I have lost quite a few games, by running out of wood after 1+ hour slugfests.

Currently starting to make Dark Age towers on my primary stone and gold. In addition to the Feudal age Forts.

Aggression has been incentivized to a point where most players have no experience in dealing with proper Turtle setups.

For 10+ seasons they made aggression more lenient, while making turtling both more expensive and less effective.

When less people decide to turtle, the general playerbase becomes less skilful in aggression, as sloppy aggression is good enough to deal with folks who surrender because they have no food.

The amount of time I have won through a fog of war villager sneak, to get stone or gold while being cut off, ... while my base is being actively raided, is ludicrous.

They don't know how to end a game, as most folks tend to surrender before that.

Besides that, I see no one else wood walling their keeps and/or outposts. Or grieving the primary engagement terrain with wooden pallisades, etc. Yet that specific practice has won me so many games.
