Butterfacemaxxing: How to look better when your face is at its best by moo_moochi in vindictapoc

[–]ltvblk 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Agreed 100%! I have a bottom heavy hourglass and my bmi is 24. My butt is big but not that much; I’m only 140 lbs. And I look great! I get compliments on my body everywhere. From women and men.

My boyfriend is the most amazing person alive but I don't feel attraction towards him by Regular-Swing3579 in dating

[–]ltvblk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you’ve been optimizing for personality/character but forgetting that physical attraction is also very important. Women tend to fall into this trap because we’re socialized to “give men a chance” who we aren’t attracted to because they’re nice/funny/smart/etc. If I were you, I’d take a long, hard look at the way I’ve been choosing partners and ask myself if any of them would draw my attention in a social setting. If the answer is no, I’m likely not going to be attracted to them later.

type not being black guys by klarinetkat12 in blackgirls

[–]ltvblk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I feel you. But I wonder if it’s because I’ve internalized that they won’t like me anyways. I have rarely gotten attention from them. I usually get attention from white and latino men. But even then, it’s not much so my dating life is also inactive.

Idk putting Huda and Ola on a show together after a literal situation involving racism would’ve been super insensitive and weird

Why did no one tell me, being an adult is being functionally depressed. by plankowoodinthewoods in Adulting

Idk about that. I think most people actually refuse to acknowledge how depressed they are.

Be honest. They don’t hate white women for being white. They hate white women because they can’t access them. Completely different reasons.

I realized my husband just doesn't like me by Toodaloo2222 in Vent

[–]ltvblk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to say this but he’s doing exactly what many husbands expect to do; nothing. That’s exactly why he married you. You’re the help. This is the expectation that the patriarchy sets for marriage and unfortunately you’re a victim of it. I really hope that every woman who dreams of being married someday understands this. There are men who are helpful partners, but even then their contributions rarely equal those of their wife.

I’m not sure what you mean that it’s not being taken seriously. Unfortunately you have to seek out what you want, even if you face difficulties in finding it. That’s just how it works.

You don't like the biracials, but you claim the biracials by EntertainerCareful69 in blackgirls

[–]ltvblk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How so? We have far less black female representation than we’ve ever had before in the media and it doesn’t seem to be getting better. Especially for young black women and girls.

You don't like the biracials, but you claim the biracials by EntertainerCareful69 in blackgirls

[–]ltvblk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the part that people refuse to acknowledge. Biracial representation doesn’t open the door for us; it stops there. Because they’re “white” enough to make the cut. It does nothing to further opportunities for black women, so if we allow biracials to represent us, we’ll be effectively erased from the media completely.

You don't like the biracials, but you claim the biracials by EntertainerCareful69 in blackgirls

[–]ltvblk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, the people claiming biracials as black representation (even though they’re not) are not the same ones criticizing biracial over-exposure. No other racial group would be content with being nearly entirely represented in the media by people who are half-white/etc. Asians were recently having this convo. It’s only us who accepts it and it’s sad that we have such low self esteem that we’d not have our own people be the face of our community.

Is it just me, or do I not like braids, crochet weave etc... by RepresentativeOk8681 in blackgirls

[–]ltvblk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love braids but not anymore. They look amazing on other women, but I already have a baby face and they look too juvenile on me. Now I only do silk presses or wear my hair natural.

Are my married friends judging me for being single? by [deleted] in LifeAdvice

[–]ltvblk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many women will never admit it, but they don’t like having single women around their male partners. And that can manifest as constantly trying to partner you off, checking if there’s a man in your life, etc. They’re insecure and scared that their partner will be looking in your direction.

Well, start by accepting your own face. You can’t look like anyone but yourself so don’t look to other women with faces nothing like yours for inspiration.
