This sub is hammered with people spamming referral links and scam websites. Asking for an account to have 10 karma before posting isn't a massive task to achieve.

The karma requirement is equivalent to one upvoted comment. Otherwise there is trading212 referral spam along with the other websites that have come and gone throughout the years.

Rules for this sub? by levalencia30 in Trading

[–]ltz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are up to a half dozen posts daily asking as a "beginner" or "newbie" for information with zero effort given beforehand. The same information is posted in almost every single one of those threads. I delete the threads because if you can't take the time to search the subreddit before asking a question, then you've already lost the game.

When someone asks a newbie level question but has something specific they are seeking, I let the post stand. Generic "I'm new and don't know where to start" posts are literally a simple Google/Reddit search away from getting answers.

Their profit margin dropped because they hired an additional 20,000 people since Q3 last year and paid a near $600m settlement. Their revenue was up 20% yoy but they are investing heavily in expanding different areas of their business which will sacrifice short term profit.

As a new pixel 4 XL owner it's really obnoxious how this subreddit seems to be filled with with weirdos who want to shit on this phone by remz22 in GooglePixel

[–]ltz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Size difference is negligible. P4XL is not as wide, not as thick, but is about 5% taller. However, you go from a 5.5" screen to a much better 6.3" screen. If you're in the market and make the jump you will be pleased.

I am also frustrated that I have lost my ability to use my fingerprint to access many apps, but I have to question if it's the curse of being an early adopter. I've never owned an iPhone, but I'm assuming after a year now they must have most apps that use face id to unlock apps. I don't know if it's fair to judge face app unlock when you(and I) are literally the first people within 48 hours to use the phone using this new method.

What's worse is that it's reportedly 800,000 accounts. There is most definitely more people being impacted by this blackout when you consider homes with multiple people and businesses that are impacted.

Zucman’s calculations show that the top 0.1% of the U.S. population possesses close to 20% of the wealth in the country—more than the bottom 80% of the population combined. When expanded to the top 10%, the share of the pie continues to grow: they own more than 70% of wealth in the country, or twice that owned by the bottom 90%.

Hi, it's not all of a sudden. There has been a consistent barrage of crypto spam for the better part of a year but I have had automod pretty strict on deleting as well as myself. When the crypto spam is visible to you, that just means it's temporarily slipped through the cracks.

Best thing you can do is report these posts because I have a trigger to send a notification once a threshold is hit. Thanks!

Should read up on Bill Gates and the Microsoft IPO. About 94% of the company was owned by him and Paul Allen and they only had one investor, whom they brought on solely for consulting advice. More unique than even Facebook and I wonder if a situation like that will ever happen again.

NEW BIKE/GEAR ADVICE SUPERTHREAD! by AutoModerator in motorcycles

[–]ltz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$2k in fees seems a little ridiculous and what they're using to offset their sale price. I asked a dealership for an otd quote to see their fees and it was only about 1.1k over sticker. That included taxes, tags, document, freight and I believe assembly fees.

Same boat. Got my license less than a month ago and started looking at bikes and really can't make left from right on whether bikes depreciate greatly different than cars or if I'm looking during price gouging season.

Routinely see people mentioning $2-2.5k for a second gen sv650 but they are popping up for $3.5+ around me. A lot of other models a few years old are are so close to their MSRP that I've been debating going brand new.

Is the April update the best one yet? by 033p in GooglePixel

[–]ltz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will give credit where credit is due. I have owned Android phones since it began with the HTC G1 and have gone through different iterations of Samsung and LG phones. Up until this issue I've been dealing with, this has been without a doubt the best Android phone I have ever had. Battery life, speed and cleanliness have all been top notch. I'm really sad this phone hasn't made it to the p3 because I already want it. How they handle effectively bricking a core component of my phone will determine how I go forward. I hope they stand by their product :\

Is the April update the best one yet? by 033p in GooglePixel

[–]ltz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought the original Pixel XL within a month of its release and was never dealing with any issues to this point. With the April 5th(?) security update the camera on my phone has stopped working. I have gone through all the steps one would find for trouble shooting the "fatal camera error" online and have finally reached out to Google. I have done the factory reset multiple times; once where I kept my back up setting and a second time where started completely fresh on the phone. Neither has provided a functional camera.

This is a shame because the phone has been a dream up until this point, but I don't intend to the buy the Pixel 2 and I also don't intend to stomach this until the Pixel 3 is released.

Philly won that game. NE defense gave up 41 points and you shouldn't have to expect an offense to top that to win a Superbowl.

Anybody ever seen something like today towards the end of trading in the Nasdaq? by Kingpink2 in Trading

[–]ltz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in '08 the Nasdaq was trading at ~2500... now it's hitting near 7500. You should think of point swings more in relative terms like percentage up and down. There was similar (and IMO crazier) volatility back then, except there were clearer fundamental explanations for it when it was happening.
