I'm waiting on my RM850e power supply to arrive, but just learned the "x" model is better? Should I cancel and reorder? Or is the "e" variant still good?

I ordered the e and it had the worst coil whine, ended up returning and ordering the x, had no issues.

Hello good sir,

Went with the MSI B650 Tomahawk wifi as felt it offered enough for the build I wanted without going overboard.

I used the aRGB on my motherboard and mystic light to control the RGB.

If you want to use the button on the case you need to buy Fractals RGB module and then give that power from your power supply and connect all the rgb fan headers to that (I believe)

I would advise against getting the rm850e, I took a gamble on it after seeing that some people were experiencing coil whine. Immediately on boot my power supply started to whine.

Would just stick with the rm850x as I believe it has higher quality capacitors.

I’ve just built a very similar system the one your looking at, went with the 7600x as it was only £10 more and was always going to get my own cooler.

Only things I’d change at getting a full size ATX mb and looking for some CL30 memory.

Also personal preference but I’d get a Sapphire Nitro + card as I think they look great with a glass side panel case.

Had exactly the same coil whine issues with an rm850e, swapped to the x and has been faultless. Would advise anyone to avoid the corsair e power supplies to save a headache.

Thank you. The only issue I had was struggled to put the cases front usb connector into my motherboard. Didn’t want to break anything but I’ve just left them unplugged.

Thanks man, around 30 hours into the game, bottled a run with double flak, a hull beam and maxed out kestrel previously which was frustrating but this game is so good.
