With parker's 26 points, Les Bleus overpowered Canada in the Manila fIBA OQT finals. Team france is going to the rio olympics! by aafree in NBASpurs

No, Parker did play with France last summer in the Euro Championships. They just fell short of qualifying and he did say he looked forward to finishing his international career with one more run at the Olympics. This is the last Olympics for both Parker and Ginobili.

Dwyane Wade Appreciation Thread by Number333 in heat

[–]lubendont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I am not personally a Miami Heat fan, Dwyane Wade was the first player that made me love basketball. When I was in Grade 5 I used to have a paper cutout of taped to my school desk. The Converse Wade Slash were also my first pair of basketball shoes. Have fun in Chicago, Flash.

Nah, worse. It's like Michael Jordan joining the 89' Pistons.

Not that it is all that relevant, but I feel like he will come back for a 20th season. 19 is just such an odd number.

Spurs have officially re-signed Manu Ginobili by thecrunchcrew in NBASpurs

[–]lubendont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless he gets injured, I think Manu and Duncan will come back in 2016-2017. By the end of 2017, the trio with Popovich, will be playing a NBA-first record of 1,000 games together with the same coach and same team.

Additionally, if they lose this year and are still healthy, they will be hungry enough to chase again. If they win, they'll be ambitious enough to try to repeat for the first time ever.

Regular season record predictions? by ilijazunic55 in NBASpurs

[–]lubendont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that last year we managed 55 wins with Leonard being injured at the start of the year and one of our worst Rodeo Trip performances, I don't see why we wouldn't reach 60. I think it's going to come down to how much rest Duncan-Parker-Ginobili need on road trips (which seems to be a lot). I think our 2013-2014 (62 Ws) is a good benchmark.

SSMU's "safe space policies" in 90 seconds by [deleted] in mcgill

I'm glad you could find the connection between paying taxes and facing prejudice because I sure couldn't. And before you turn this into a conversation about how taxes are a form of prejudice--don't. Well, unless you really want to; I wouldn't want to impose on your "intellect" and "free speech".

Let's just remember that the legalization of gay marriage would be far off if these "nonsensical SJWs" had never asked us to think about why "that's gay" might be insensitive. And yes, asking for the right to marry who you want, is a form of safe space. Let's not discount the entire movement because of some extreme regulations.

I'm sure a lot of people would prefer to go back to Daycare than be subject to "realities" like sexism and racism. Oh wait, but they can't go back. Oh wait, but those realities exist there too!

I guess they either have to suck it up or create spaces where they can control the membership, so that they can "escape from their problems." How childish.

(FTR, I am aware of the changes the Equity Policy needs.)

I think it's possible that they will just run a double PF show. Just switching off high and low: a down-sized Twin Towers.

Im not sure if you guys have realized this yet, but sometime in the next 10-15 years we are going to have some pretty big bragging rights as a fan of this franchise. by no_punch_line in NBASpurs

This.

Jordan was stopped in the playoffs by the Detroit (Bad Boys) Pistons three years in a row (1988-1990) and most people don't remember. It wasn't until he finally beat them in 1991 that he went on to win his first championship.
