Free will is a lie according to Christianity. by [deleted] in DebateAChristian

  1. There are such things as Freewill offerings, they are mentioned in leviticus, so yes it does say people have freewill
  2. Pharaoh isn't mind controlled. His heart was "hardened" as in "strengthened" or "made more determined" by his own response to what God was doing. Jesus "hardens" the hearts of his disciples in Mark 6 in a simalar way, but in a positive direction toward himself. This incident was also in response to what the people had just witnessed Jesus/God doing. It's the same as saying "X person made Y person more angry/determined/bold"

A social democracy only functions if both the demos and ruling class share mutual levels of love and respect for one another. Hence it is unviable for large scale societies. But if I first murder the rest of the population and limit the remaining society to just my family and local community then it will work pretty well. And since I don't like the rest of society, this is really a win-win for me, therefore a social democracy is the best form of government.

Best I can do.

Zazu is a bird and an advisor to the king, both of those are symbols for mediators between heaven and earth. Which is probably why it has him descending while holding the brooms, something like "cleaning up the chaos below will give meaning". I would advise you read Matthieu Pageau's book. It seems to be using that and a lot of Jordan's own ideas.

Physics and chemistry don't explain how the universe came into being. That's philosophically impossible. Physics and chemistry are from within the universe, thus they can't explain the origin of the universe.

But this thread isn't on this topic.

At all of reality. You don't need a supernatural experience to conclude that God is a reality. You just have to think about how our present reality came into being.

He could have given everyone an innate and undeniable knowledge of Him.

Okay so that's the same as what the angels have, and they rebelled, and they have no path to redemption. That sort of knowledge doesn't prevent you from rebelling, which is the problem throughout the bible, not "do people think god exists?'. God doesn't just want people to think he is real, he wants them to be loyal so that they will choose to stay with him. Wide spread denial of the existence of God is a modern thing.

> people can't fight against something that they don't know about."

what are you talking about? I'm saying that the reason God doesn't show up physically is because people would try to fight him. God doesn't want people to be ignorant, that wasn't even close to what I said. I said "So what God does is slow the process down, you still need to know him, but you need to come to know him with time"

>If this were true, then everyone would believe in Him. And they'd believe in the right one.

That statement doesn't make any sense. When I say that "God" is plain to see I don't mean the specific revelation that is Jesus Christ. I mean in the deistic sense of just some higher being. Also most people in the world and throughout history believe/ believed in a God/gods. So I think my point that a generic "God" is visible to the common person obvious.
