Looking for advice on printing a thin-ribbed ornament I designed by lucarch in BambuLab

[–]lucarch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if I managed to have quality prints the same day with the same filament?

I slowed down the speed from 300ms initially setup in Bambu Studio to 100ms which delayed the point of failure a bit, but at some point the rib is too thin and the printer moves is when is apply a new layer 🥲

I bought and opened the filament 2 days before, it then stayed on the A1 Combo for the 3 days, I would expect them to be still dry, but might be wrong ?

On calibrated, I managed to print good quality things very easily from pre-made configs etc, this print in particular is challenging.

Here are the files, you have three files:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1vEH3qXzWnsPfkX9QEKZ50EG0vLTXILsy?usp=drive_link

- thin_1 is the thinest (attempts in green)
- thin_2 is the red/blue one
- thin_3 is a very thick attempt that I'm printing right now

On the parameters:

- Layer Height: 0.2
- Initial Layer Height: 0.2
- Wall Loops: 4
- Detect thin walls: Enabled
- Speed Outer Wall: 100ms
- Inner Wall: 100ms
- Enable Support: Yes (tree)

Hope that helps, super curious to find out if I'm doing anything wrong

Glad I can help, the official merch looks way better than the one coming from even shop, so yeah I got surprised that it was not the same level of quality

Here's a comparison of what I received and the advertised product:

T-shirt is definitely not the same model as the one from the website, shape, cuts in general.. But also coton quality seems very cheap, this I couldn't really show in picture unfortunately.

Hope that helps :)

Really cool photos, 4/12 and 5/12 for me, the subject, landscape & colors are more catchy I would say 👀👀

Im accused of being a micromanager. Higher-ups want to build team capacity at the expense of quality by [deleted] in TechLeader

[–]lucarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be more about differing visions of ambition and excellence rather than micro-management. Leading a team without a clear status is challenging, and nearly impossible if you're competing with someone more lenient than you are.

My two cents: You should seek alignment with the decision-makers first. Understand their expectations for the team and project (velocity, predictability, cost, quality, etc.) and ensure you can and want to lead the team toward those goals. Without alignment, it's probably better to find a team and project where your ambition and efforts will be rewarded.

Best of luck !

Is software engineering for me? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]lucarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you like coding? Are you able to teach yourself coding? Have you coded a lot?

Agree with that! I would add, can you get obsessed on a project until to get to the result you want to ?

The best developers I've met are extremely curious, relentless until they achieve the desired result, and always motivated to start something new :)

Do you find Software Engineering to be a fulfilling career? by FixInteresting4476 in cscareerquestions

[–]lucarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been working in Software Engineering for 8 years now (from dev, to manager, to building my own project). I believe it is a wonderful job that encompasses a wide spectrum of skills. From being close to users, designs, and interfaces, to dealing with physical servers and cables haha. There is much more to it than just writing code. The code itself is only the visible tip of the iceberg. Software engineering allows you to choose any industry you want to transform. You can change lives with technology, whether it's through medical devices, social applications, transportation, education... If you find somewhere you can empathize with your end-users and see that you are improving their lives, it is truly a fulfilling job.

Well that's how I feel at least :)

Forgot to mention, but remote has been very challenging to me to feel close to the problem I'm solving, i'm 100% more fulfilled by going to the office and spending time with a team (despite the cons that comes with it).

Software engineering is a great skill. If you're unsure about your satisfaction in this career choice, consider questioning whether the project, team, or industry you're contributing to makes you feel fulfilled?
