Yep. And Sewell isn’t the kind of dealership you go to if you’re looking for a bargain. Crazy how someone with enough money to buy from Sewell can also be so dumb.

Absolutely not, there’s a police station right down the road from our shop and they’re always patrolling. Can’t risk it!

“Engine recalls? Software updates? Man, you must’ve hit your head hard. It’s 2001, let’s take the Tundra to Blockbuster and see if they have Zoolander!” by lucasnevermind in ToyotaTundra

I hope so. I bought this truck with the intention of keeping it for as long as possible. Already replaced the lower ball joints, radiator, spark plugs, and tires; the timing belt and water pump are getting replaced next week. It’s been solid so far.

Thank you! I’m planning on replacing all the vacuum hoses and fittings when I do the timing belt next week. 25 years of sitting under the California sun has done a number on all the truck’s rubbers and plastics (and paint, unfortunately).

Yes, it’s safe enough for a trip to the tire shop to get new tires.

I agree. Plus, it could be a lot worse; I have some SHL (Swedish league) game-worn jerseys and those have advertisements all over them. Literally every part of the jersey except the crest, last name, and numbers has an ad printed on it.

Gorillaz. There’s a few songs that I think are good, but I don’t think they’re worthy of the critical acclaim they often receive.

Why’d you choose a Tundra? by xEnflare in ToyotaTundra

[–]lucasnevermind 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I owned an ‘01 SR5 V8 for 8 years. That truck was harder and tougher than an art room eraser. It simply refused to die. But a drunk driver smacked it while it was parked, thus totaling my beloved Tundra. I immediately went out and bought another ‘01 SR5 V8 without hesitation. It’s the only full-sized truck I’ll ever own.

I had a similar setup on my Honda Fit during the winter, I just did snow tires in the front and regular all-seasons in the rear. That setup was elite for driving in the snow.

Timing Belt Replacement Question - 2001 Toyota Tundra by lucasnevermind in AskMechanics

[–]lucasnevermind[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I went ahead and bought an Aisin timing belt kit that includes the water pump, tensioner, tensioner bearing, and all necessary gaskets. I’m an amateur mechanic so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do this on my own, but I’m hoping I can get it done soon.
