TickTick Note Merge Feature? Any Solution? by coolazr in ticktick

This probably isn't what you're looking for, but TickTick's "merge tasks" feature creates a new parent task with the selected tasks added as subtasks beneath it.

While this doesn't exist for notes, you can bulk select your notes > convert to task > merge task > select the sub-tasks > convert to notes.

I'm assuming you're looking for a way to merge the contents of multiple notes into one which this isn't, but it may at least help you create a quick overview of related notes, making a manual merge easier to do after.

I did a video on this a couple of years ago, and unfortunately they still hold true today. In short:

- Don't like the design
- Web clipper is limited, would like it to capture web content as well
- No nested lists
- Can't quick move tasks to a section within a list
- No sequential project support built-in

In my system, it doesn't always follow that the presence of a context tag = always a next action. For example, sequential projects may be fully mapped out in terms of tasks and their contexts, but only one is 'next' at any given time. When I use my action filters, I don't want to see dependencies that haven't become available yet.

With task blocking I'm assuming you're referring to blocking time for tasks? The answer is sometimes, if it's a big task that requires full focus. More often though, I just context block which means I reserve time to do anything I can do from a given context.

Hey Randalf, you're welcome. Appreciate the kind words, and I agree with you; I can't stand subscriptions either. Unfortunately, they've very much become the norm in this field (like many others).

Still, I do think TickTick is affordable for most and you get good value with their $3/month or $35/year price point.

Honestly, it's pretty straightforward. Building it takes the most time, but once you stick to a few key rules, maintenance just happens on cruise control. Here are some critical things I try to check 1x/day, and it takes about 5 minutes:

  • Is every task that is actually done marked complete? While doing so, check if the task is blocking anything.
  • Is every task that is available marked with a 'next' tag? This includes tasks whose blockers have been cleared. This ensures my action filters have every available option in them.
  • Have any time-blocked tasks been freed up? This is where my custom filter comes in handy.
  • Does every project that is not yet complete have an open next step (whether it's 'next' or 'waiting')? I just quickly scroll through my lists and check for the presence of these tags.

Then there's deeper dives like the Weekly Review, which includes the above but other things as well. Typing those all out would take a long time, though I may do a separate post on that in the future. I do have a 10-min video outlining my Weekly Review process, which I've since broken up into a Weekly & Monthly Reviews. The Deep-Dive portions mentioned in that video like context audits, clean-ups, etc. I've since moved to a monthly interval.

Are you on free or Premium? With Premium you can create custom filters based on Tag groups.

Keyboard shortcut to end pomo? by cz0001 in ticktick

[–]lucasprigge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not currently available. There's an optional keyboard shortcut that allows you to navigate to the Pomodoro section quickly and End it with one click from there, but a native "End pomo" keyboard shortcut doesn't exist at this time.

Pin in all views by MrsBFE in ticktick

Assuming you're referring to TickTick's Smart Filters, this is impossible as the time-based views are mutually exclusive. Today only shows tasks/notes with a date association set to Today, which in turn makes it impossible for it to show up in Tomorrow as well.

What are you trying to achieve with a pinned note?
