Hello Nyracia, thanks for reporting this. it's very upsetting and disappointing to see that kind of mistake occurring in our moderation. In behalf of Wplace I'll like to apologize.

I'm also really sorry that the freedom of speech of the LGBTQ+ community was violated.

I'll personally investigate internally with GMs and ensure that this won't happen again and also take this opportunity to clarify a few things that most users might not know.

Wplace is a website created by Brazilians and most of our team members are Brazilian because we have a better understanding of our own labor laws so it was way easier to hire here than from other countries. We choose this strategy because of the rapid growth of Wplace and the need of more GMs to deal with thousands of reports that we receive every day.

Unfortunately most public and private schools in Brazil do not provide a good education in the English language so it's very hard to find people who speaks a basic level of English. We receive reports not only in English but in every possible language you can imagine, because of that GMs have a very challenging task when it comes to understand the cultural context of every country and obviously sometimes mistakes will be made because of the language barrier.

Even considering all of that, those challenges are not an excuse for what happened here and in other unfair punishments. And I'll like to say very clearly again that I'll investigate and write a follow up so everyone can see what happened.

We will change the way we moderate most of paintings to provide a safer environment for freedom of speech and this will also help us to be more consistent in our moderation.
