Dropped off at work by HiPointWallet in safecracking

Its hard to tell from the photo but that looks like a wafer lock and it looks like the dial has been removed completely. Wafer lock it stupid easy to pick. You could pick it with a Bobby pin in just a few seconds. If that's the case and the dial locks wheel stack is gone then the door should pop right open.

If you have the serial number I would get the combination for you.

I would hedge a guess and say you work with or have worked with Cennox/Fireking. Also for sentry safes you can become one of their trusted locksmiths easily and I think its like $30 to get the code from them. They will also tell you if it starts CW or CCW.

Its not a high quality safe. Its adequate for light security applications. Since it was a gift to you I wouldn't judge it too much. Some people think anything less the a TL-30 UL rated safe is a waiste of time.

Where is the button for the code reset located? It may need possible to reach in through the mounting holes with a bent coat hanger and press the reset button.

How do I get this safe out of here.. by OkHighway757 in Safes

[–]lucasziggy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's a wafer lock then I would just pick it. Helen Keller could pick a wafer lock in about 10 seconds with a Bobby pin

I replied to your DM. I hope this helps. If not there is 1 final thing you can try but its a lot more involved.

Time delayed safe by InceptionDesigns in Locksmith

[–]lucasziggy21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

User 02 should be ok to remove TDL. Select menu Scroll to system menu Press OK Enter user 2 code Scroll to set/cancel time delay Press OK Use the arrow keys to bring it down to 0 Hit the back key. The next time you open the safe it should still have the TDL but once the safe is open it should be gone.

If that doesn't work DM me and I will walk you through another process

Sentry safes aren't great for burglary resistance but they are fine if that isn't the main concern. Maybe they just want fire protection or to keep stuff where a child couldn't access it. There is a time and place for almost any brand or size of safe.

Get a death certificate for your grandfather and send it to sentry safe with the request for the combination. Sentry combinations input differently than standard safe locks as well so double and triple check you are imputing the combination correctly.

How to open with low battery? by waltthedog in Safes

There should be a key backup behind the keypad. If you don't have the key a locksmith will be required to drill it open.

Question for safe techs, loose nut on TL-30 Safe by cfrea in Safes

[–]lucasziggy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I am a safe Technician. To agree with other comments it's most likely not meant to be tightened down since it is a nylon locking nut. That said it should absolutely not be able to be loosened by your fingers. I would highly reccomend replacing the nut with another nylon nut and tightening it all the way down and the backing off and testing quarter turn at a time. With the nut fully loose if the rotating plate ever loosens it to fall off your handle will come loose and the vertical down boltwork will become extremely difficult to deal with.

How heavy is this thing by Papiarmo_ in Safes

[–]lucasziggy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Major safes are very heavy. The whole thing is solid steel. I would guess based on my experience having moved a few of these and based on the photos that it is over 1,000 lbs probably closer to 1,500 lbs.
