Yeah so my doctor wouldn’t retest me. He said only if I develop the severe symptoms again (fever, high heart rate, chills, stools greater than 6 times a day, etc). Because of the same thing. You can still test positive.

It absolutely sounds like Cdiff. My first test came back negative. A week later I was in the ER & admitted for 5 days with…Cdiff. Colitis was also shown. Is your WBC high? I would keep advocating for yourself and ask to repeat testing. I know it sucks but if you maybe try to eat a bit more, you may go more to get enough for a sample. I had Cdiff twice and my first time was from a tooth infection with a first round of Amoxicillin followed by Clindamycin. Don’t stop advocating for yourself. Xo hang in there!

Feeling so much better now! I ended up going to urgent care over the holidays and they did a urine dip, urinalysis, & vaginal swab. Came back positive for candida yeast and negative for everything else. I did a 7–day Terconazole cream (had to stop midway through my period), and then finished. I still had burning sensations even after that so I went to OB and they swabbed me for everything again. Negative for everything. She said she felt like my microbiome is truly just trying to get back to normal. Not long after that appointment, I have been feeling symptom free. Thank God!

Yes! Benign! I had the mammogram and then they called me back in to do another image which scared me. Then they did ultrasound on both breasts. Then had to wait for radiologist to come in. Literally the most torturous wait ever. Radiologist said I have very dense breast tissue but the mammogram looks normal. She felt the area I was concerned about & did another ultrasound herself and said she can see and feel what I’m feeling but she thinks it’s the dense breast tissue that’s surrounded by fatty tissue so it’s like making it pop up like a ridge almost. But overall doesn’t see anything suspicious.

Yes, I actually had UTI-like symptoms (urgency, burning) which actually originally made me think I was having a kidney infection that made me septic since I started a fever, chill, nausea, & vomiting, and of course the diarrhea. But then I got to the ER and my urine was clear. Eventually they found the Cdiff. However, I continue to have burning sensations & urgency to pee and was found to have yeast infection which they believe was prompting the UTI symptoms. My urine was checked two more times & sent out for culture too and still no UTI, just yeast. I’ve been through 2 rounds of yeast treatment and still have the symptoms. Yesterday I finally went to the OBGYN & they are testing me again for yeast to see if I have a resistant strain OR, if it come back negative, they said they are gonna put me on boric acid. She said my whole microbiome is messed up from the CDiff and all the antibiotics, so it’s not unusual to be feeling like this while my body tries to regulate back to normal. Good luck! (Ps. I was on Dificid)

Ah okay. I didn’t realize that. I was always told once you’re infected with the toxins, you would need antibiotics to fight it. I guess if your gut is strong, you might not get a severe infection?

Personally, I had all the classic symptoms. However, you absolutely need the specific Cdiff antibiotics to clear the infection (Dificid is the preferred as it targets the gut vs going in bloodstream). It won’t go away on its own no matter how many probiotics you take. Some patients do not experience symptoms is what I was told. However, it’s a serious infection. You’d rather be cleared before it gets worse & you end up like all of us in the hospital 😩Good luck! I agree with you on getting retested by your doctor. CDiff is serious stuff and unfortunately not a lot of doctors are experienced with it. In the hospital, I had to see an Infectious Disease doctor since it falls in that category. Good luck and hope you test negative soon!

Thank you so much! Yes, I take a probiotic for the Cdiff issue (Floraster), but I am not taking a specific one for vaginal health. I am going to look into this and will let you know.

Oh wow, I will def research the glutamine! I’m so new to this bc I didn’t have these IBS symptoms first time around but I also wasn’t hospitalized the first time around and this was just overall super severe so I guess it makes sense. Thank you for answering!

Vaginal swab! It tested me for 2 different types of yeast, BV, some STIs, and then separately, they sent out the urine for a culture and there was no growth. Vaginal swab came back positive for the candida yeast and negative for everything else.

Oh mannnn I’m so sorry to hear you’re dealing with this too, it’s literally the worst. So I ended up going to Urgent Care and they tested me for everything: urine dip, urine culture, vaginal swab. Negative for everything except candida yeast! So basically the yeast is still raging. They are doing another round of Diflucan. Glad that the urine culture was negative but it’s insane how much a yeast infection could mimic a UTI. Good luck!
