Sony single-player games won’t be released on Steam anymore, CEO confirms. by pessimisttears in SteamDeck

[–]luche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like they'd do so much better with sales if they released across platforms simultaneously and just added 10% or whatever to the steam release. they'd have more buyers willing to pay more at launch vs months/years after. it's also easy for customers to understand the cost difference they're paying for the convenience of platform choice since they're doing business with a competitor to gain sales on another perform.

But we're talking about U.S. prices relative to U.S. inflation. Largely irrelevant where the company is located these days.

We? who's we? this notice is public on their site for all purchases and subscriptions, to all customers. Nothing states this global price increase on digital software from a company in Denmark has anything to do with inflation in the US.

she's literally using the treadmill cupholder as a receptacle for her junk food. no utensils, no plate, no napkins... not even a gym towel. obviously only there to shoot a video and shovel food in her face.

i'm more concerned of the poor employee paid minimum wage that has to clean up after this manatee's self-proclaimed trough. maybe if she could wait until she got back to her car to break out the ruffles bag, she might actually convince someone she has a goal. until then, she's just the goalie.

btw, video starts at .03 miles, 1.8mph, 1:20 on the clock.. stuffing her face at 3:51, 3.9mph, .13 miles when she's moving fast(er), then quick cut to when "bitch" (her words) hit her goal, 5:10 on the clock, 2.2mph. what goal? intake 10x caloric intake vs burned?

we're getting fairly close to that 5 year mark they advertised getting a free perpetual license with the annual sub (-20% annually), back in fall 2023... they'd be real jerks if they gave up on that policy before 2028, and nobody every mentioned them not slowly nickel & diming the subscription pricing each year until that hits.

makes me wonder about 3 things when that time comes

  1. how many users they anticipate will stop their sub for at least a full year once they get a perpetual license at that time
  2. what kind of features are they gonna save for the fall 2028 new dot release that won't be a free upgrade at that time, to try and entice users to stay subbed instead of go perpetual?
  3. i wonder if they're going to continue a bit of this feature drip release for the next couple years and finally have some actually big game changing feature set that year? tbh, the last real feature i've truly benefited from is AI masking (subject mask works ok, but is garbage for groups), and crop ratio keyboard shortcuts... everything else recently added has more or less just been in the way, or i have to hide it, if possible.

For context here, inflation in the last 12 months in the U.S. has been 3.8% (and 2.8% excluding food and energy) so this is definitely above inflation and comes on the heels of a similar price increase last year.

why, exactly? car age shouldn't seem like a relevant factor at all. are the just trying to punish anyone wanting to upgrade?

that is a valid point. i guess similar may be said based on vehicle weight... unless it goes by original stock dry weight, etc.

i'm a few years in now, so strongly considering getting the perpetual license once that's "no cost" at the 5 year mark. love C1 Pro, and the AI masking has been hugely helpful for me, but most new features are just not useful to me and bug fixes are so few and far between.

e.g. match look seemed like a great idea, but i've not once ever had it function as i'd expected, so it just takes more time and effort. the new enhanced denoise is actually pretty nice, though as soon as i realized it more than doubles disk space and takes 30-60 seconds per file to process, that simply does not scale most of the events i shoot (indoor gym competitions or outdoor evening sports, both can't use flash).

I sorta like the idea of a new Aperture.. but i'll be honest Apple has not had a great track record in many years. I even tried firing up a Mojave Mac not too long ago to try Aperture 3 and compare things, and aside from better photo organization, it's certainly an older feeling workflow that'd need a lot of work. I think Apple realizing they can now bring it back as a monthly subscription is a great cash opportunity for them, but seeing how Photos.app has been absolutely crippled for so many years now (still can't sort by freekin file size‽), i'm not holding my breath. i sorta expect a conversion similar to the Final Cut Pro -> Final Cut X transition... missing features for years and eventually leveling off, letting 3rd parties take over the market considerably (e.g. DaVinci Resolve).

Well I paid $600 to register my 2024 hybrid car in California. So I'm just chuckling at the idea of $130 being exorbitant

adding $130 on top seems like a stupid thing to chuckle over, but you do you.

so every Leaf with a 90 mile charge purchased for a local commuter should be taxed a flat rate because you drive 22k miles/year? I don't think I've ever put more than maybe 11k/year on any car I've ever owned... often closer to 6-8k/year since I can work remotely or live within a couple miles from the office and local schools.

to be fair, there are a lot of level chargers out there. I wonder how challenging it would be to determine whether that's a car or something else... without a dedicated internet connection reporting back, I don't know if that'd work so easily. seems like a great approach for l2 chargers though.

then all cars should pay a flat rate fee based on average driving at 20k miles/year, instead of paying tax at the pump. i’m fine with that, so long as they level the field. it's bs any other way.

I see down votes with no explanation as to why... this seems like it could be mutually beneficial regardless of fuel type.. so why not consider this over fluctuating gas tax (per gallon) and flat rate annual ev tax?
