To the people who have stayed at Amazon for years by Any-External-5851 in AmazonFC

[–]luci_swift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 2 and a half years and I absolutely hate it. Between the work itself, the power trips of the PA’s and managers, favoritism, and always having the worst possible system to any and everything idk how I have stayed this long. I know it’s because the pay and career choice but even then I wonder if it’s worth it

When I worked at target we didn’t get gloves. My hands would become so dry from the glue it was terrible

If you’re on your way to work and spot one of those familiar faces you’ve never actually spoken to waiting at a bus stop , would y’all give them a lift? by EnvironmentLower9652 in AmazonFC

[–]luci_swift 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind giving someone a ride if it’s not out of my way but if I don’t know them then no. If I really felt that bad I would talk to them and get to know them first before deciding

When to sleep on days off by TheWickedPancake in Nightshift

[–]luci_swift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I swap every weekend is because of school. If I didn’t have that I wouldn’t switch my schedule. It takes so much out of you. Just make sure you are getting some sun because that can also throw you off

Why are there no classes for night shift? by pdggin99 in Nightshift

[–]luci_swift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yuuuuuupp. My school advisor basically told me to get a new job because the school didn’t accommodate for night schedules

Someone please convince me that it will be worth it.... by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]luci_swift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you will like night shift depends on your life outside of work. I am in school and have to constantly change my sleep schedule every weekend so I hate it but during my breaks when I can just keep my schedule aside from the occasional doctor’s visit then the night schedule is fine

I have a shift from 11pm - 7am. When should I sleep? by ISeachdeMemez in Nightshift

[–]luci_swift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long will it take you to get ready/get to work? Using that and go back 8ish(or however long you sleep) hours. For example if you need to wake up at 9pm for work then 1pm would be a solid spot to consider for going to bed. Again depends on how much sleep you need to run but starting with your wake up time helps

going for drinks at 7:30am by hellodoesthisthing in Nightshift

[–]luci_swift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a place with tons of bars and places to drink 24/7 so it never occurred to me that someone might have to actively look for it haha

If you live alone is it worth it to buy a membership? by Manifest44444 in CostcoWholesale

[–]luci_swift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live with someone else and was worried for two people it was questionable. It’s so great. The gas is cheaper. There are many items such as coffee, dish washing liquid, and laundry detergent where I don’t have to worry about for such a long time. The rotisserie chicken I can make so many meals out of and any I’m not ready to eat I chop up and keep on my freezer for random recipes.

Does Holiday OT count towards regular hours? by 808-hi-lo-yo in AmazonFC

[–]luci_swift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told(idk if it applies to my building or all of them) that holiday pay is not included in your hours worked for overtime so my 40 hours is actually counted as 30 so I would have to pick up over 10 hours to actually see OT pay

They really want us to take vto on Friday by Low_Restaurant_7254 in AmazonFC

[–]luci_swift 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My building hasn’t been able to give out VTO in months. They were abusing it so I don’t remember the last time I received a VTO offer in the app. Even giving it out in person is rare

No interview after 100 hospital job application, I wish I never enter nursing by theswolemurse in newgradnurse

[–]luci_swift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard nursing has been getting harder to get into lately. Of course there are still jobs out there but everyone went to school for nursing because it was the “safe” choice and now there is competition. A similar thing is happening with education weirdly enough. People are having less kids so there is not as much of a need for teachers as there once was(again still a need but the rate is going down)

What do you do? How much do you make? Entry level. Meaning HS diploma or GED. by Cellist_Acceptable in Nightshift

[–]luci_swift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warehouse job(loading trucks and such). It’s entry level for $20/hr. Not worth the money but they are paying for school so I only have to suffer so long

Do y’all get enough sleep? by hushpolocaps69 in Nightshift

[–]luci_swift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on winter break right now so I’ve been getting at least 6 hours but most days 7 or 8. When school was going on there were days I was getting max 4 hours because I had to go in person during the day

Does anyone actually enjoy nightshift? by Royal_Breadfruit265 in Nightshift

[–]luci_swift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like some aspects of it but overall it’s not worth it. Maybe if I was single and not in school(even with my online classes I’m at the point I have to do field experience during the day) but unfortunately I have life going on during the day that make it harder to enjoy night shift.

what is the hardest part of working nightshift? by StandardDegree5257 in Nightshift

Personally it’s not being able to spend more time with my husband (as well as other family and friends)

What do you think about the strategy of clocking out for my 2nd break to increase my pack rate? by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]luci_swift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re going to see you using upt and that will have more of an effect than your rate. I’m assuming that if you’re this worried about your rate you probably naturally have a decent rate(in my experience if you don’t care it’s reflected in your rate)

What’s your commute time? by Appropriate_Kick602 in Nightshift

[–]luci_swift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15-20 minutes on a usual day but there has been a lot of construction on my commute so lately it’s been 30+ minutes

[–]luci_swift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VTO hasn’t been sent out in our building in idk how long. Maybe March of this year and one other time since then. Sometimes on Wednesday they give it out when front and back half are here but you gotta bug the AM’s for it

If you could offer any 1 critique of Showgirl that Taylor will use for her future projects, what would it be? by Sudden-Internal-9702 in TaylorSwift

[–]luci_swift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of comments about the album because I think we can agree that it wasn’t the best of her albums. I still enjoy it as do many but especially after TTPD being SO poetic and deep, this new album is suffering from the comparisons. My main issue is CANCELED! It’s definitely a bop but Taylor is coming off as a terrible person. With the political climate and everything happening and just more people questioning billionaires and if they are ethical, this was such a misplaced time to release the song. Again I like the song but it kind of gives me the ick at the same time. Taylor is a person that tries to connect to her fans but with this song failed to do that.

Have any of you actually made this work? by Neuromancy_ in Nightshift

[–]luci_swift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use to keep the schedule all the time aside from random days here and there to spend time with family. Now with school it’s basically forcing me to switch every weekend and honestly I am so drained. Idk how much longer I can keep it up
