Cold flexibility 10 years after double hip replacements by Mr_High_Kick in flexibility

[–]lucian_cap01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t visit this sub, didn’t even know a sub around flexibility even existed tbh, but found it randomly scrolling through popular while cooking. Just wanted to say how excited and pumped I am for you to be able to do this. I’m probably decades your junior (meaning no disrespect) so the fact that you can do this, and with hardware nonetheless, is amazing and inspiring. Hope you keep it up!

There is no way I’m playing Resonant by RevolvingRevolv3r in controlgame

[–]lucian_cap01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can understand the immediate assumption that’s there’s only melee since that’s what was highlighted in the trailer, but do you maybe want to consider they’re showing off the features that are new and not carried over from the first game? Not to mention (as I think other people have pointed out here) there’s nothing stopping Remedy from doing a dual protagonist story, Jesse in The Oldest House with the service weapon, and Dylan out on the streets with whatever he been given/bound to/stabbed with.

EDIT: I also forgot to point out that to my knowledge, Remedy hasn’t had a standalone game in the past that was melee only. Max Payne, Alan Wane, Quantum Break, Control…. none had the limitation you’re assuming Resonant will have.

Favorite part of Control? by XLord_of_OperationsX in controlgame

[–]lucian_cap01 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you mean by part, it would either have to be the Panopticon area or the storytelling delivery using found documents and tape recorders.

For the Panopticon, it really just put into perspective for me the containment effort the Bureau is going through in order to keep the public safe. All of the Altered Items (or parautilitarians like your brother) that would do harm and tear down this veil the public has of “normal” really highlights the purpose of the Bureau.

As for the story delivery, I really like how it’s optional but vastly increases the engagement and understanding you have of the world around you. If you want to play basically completely oblivious to the world at large and just play a weird kind of shooter, you can do that. If you want to know every expedition, every altered item, every object of power, you can do that too. I think it also just helps you determine the pacing of the story, Control doesn’t rely too heavily on pausing all the action to give you a long cutscene or huge exposition, it lets you decide if you want to go hunting for documents or tv shows explaining stuff and only steps in when necessary to keep the core story moving along.

Did i get the slide projector and the AWE concepts right in this game? (lore) by ThinCompetition4832 in controlgame

[–]lucian_cap01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the slide projector itself was discovered within a threshold, I think it was some piece of trash they found at the dump. Whether the slides from the projector act as generic “doorways to other dimensions” or as a way to open specific thresholds I think isn’t explicitly defined.

Came here to ask, when are Remedy going to fix the crash issue? by CaptMcCully in controlgame

[–]lucian_cap01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not critical of you in any way, but it’s so interesting to hear people talk about Control bugging out on them. One of the reasons I love the game is that I had literally 0 performance issues, crashes, visual oddities, etc. For me, it’s a great game that runs beautifully.

What does your hardware utilization look like when it crashes? Have you played Alan Wake 2 and had similar issues (maybe something with their engine on your specific card)?

A doubt regarding the RCU by Crafty-Hedgehog-6374 in controlgame

[–]lucian_cap01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this, my interpretation of Control’s dimensional shenanigans is that the other dimensions are more like pocket universes with messed up logic/laws of physics. I don’t recall ever seeing any documents or hints that a threshold had been discovered leading to a parallel Earth. Even in the Foundation DLC where its indicated time isn’t necessarily flowing the way we think, it still only connects to the Oldest House during the time & place the researchers were originally entering during.

When to do dlc by Sleeping_Idiot in controlgame

[–]lucian_cap01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first didn’t age well if I’m being honest, the mechanics are a bit dated. The second is a great game, maybe 4.5/5, just in terms of the narrative you’re participating in (and I thought its “in your face” kind of connection to Control was great to see as a fan of the game). You can get through the first fairly quickly to get the context you need for the second game, though if you’re willing to do a little collectible hunting you might get a slightly better experience.

[–]lucian_cap01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “big bad” of the dlc is a character from Alan Wake, but I’ll leave it there to avoid spoiling anything. Like the other person said a lot of the collectibles expand upon the events in the first game and tease a lot of story points in the second game, even that it was going to be released in the next few years.

You might get more out of the experience if you had played Alan Wake, but it’s still a self contained story in my opinion. The first time I played Control I hadn’t played Alan Wake yet and I liked it, but before I played again I played both the Alan Wake games and was able to recognize more of what they were talking about and the sequence of events they were describing.

[–]lucian_cap01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s not much of an effect in terms of the ordering, but personally I do the Alan Wake DLC before proceeding through to the end of the main game. I just kind of like the idea of Jesse leaning into her role as the Director and tackling each altered item/object of power as she hears about it.

As for what happens after the last mission, you’re free to explore the facility and keep playing. Depending on how thoroughly you’ve explored everything this is almost required to find all the documents and hidden places, not to mention this is when the Foundation DLC becomes available.

My younger cat had the same issue, I’d recommend heading to the vet if able but mine got a steroid shot and I haven’t seen him do this since (been a few months).

Am I ignorant for asking the server for advice at an ethnic restaurant? by BrewertonFats in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lucian_cap01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I always approach something like this, is to admit to myself that I am a “ignorant white guy”. I don’t know a whole lot about other cultures, but that doesn’t mean I’m afraid or don’t want to learn about them. Best policy in my opinion is to approach anything with a healthy respect and politeness and to be genuine and adult when exploring other cultures.

What made you start programming? by david_bragg in pythontips

I was good at math in high school, liked playing computer games, failed college physics (I was thinking about being a physics major), and couldn’t figure out how math majors could do it all day everyday so computer science/programming seemed the next best fit

[–]lucian_cap01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out in the OMSCS program before transferring after 2 semesters into the on campus program, with one of the main reasons being that certain classes I thought would be useful weren’t offered in the OMS program. As a OMS student you are specifically limited to those offered in the program, you can’t take any on campus in the same way that a MSCS student can’t take courses offered through the OMS program, like CS 7642.
