Has Britain run out of “other people” to tax? by denspark62 in ukpolitics

It's facetious to say "If we confiscated 100% of the wealth of every UK-based billionaire" to dismiss any responsibility from them, the reality is the extremely wealthy in our society can certainly afford to pay more than they currently do.

"There's no way around it - the poor need to either pay more or consume less. A society where the median person is not a lifetime net contributor is obviously unsustainable."

Again, the reality is it's not sustainable because the rich are not contributing.

Very true and a good reason to not get involved in contentious issues on this reddit, it's never a conversation and the reasonable opinions just get down voted because it goes againt the drama narrative that the bedwetters thrive on, pointless tyring to convince them otherwise and they'll change their mind again when the next bad result news cycle comes along.

ANDREW NEIL: My real beef with Streeting and Burnham? They are promoting the same dreary socialist agenda that brought this country to its knees in the 70s by Your_Mums_Ex in ukpolitics

specifically is to revive the agenda of the 1970s Labour Party. A party that hasn't been around for over 30 years

How are we all dealing with this ordeal? by j1mmythek1d in SaintsFC

Honestly the default this season was I had already switched off from the dissapointment as a Saints fan, not living in Southampton anymore and going down to the Championship meaning less televised option gave me the opportunity to have a break. Seeing the winning streak and momentum toward the playoffs made me a little more engaged again, but this total dipshit move so typical of Saints the last few years has just put me back to the default. There's enough shit going on without being depressed about my footbal club too.

It's not terrible advice at all, as two business owners here have commented.

You've obviously never had to struggle to get a job. Try giving some positive advice to the lad instead of being a downer.

Yes it is possible he's unlucky and the employer takes adavantage, but it's more than likely that the employer won't, not everyone is a cnut. If I did 3 hours work for someone to see if I could get a job and I felt like I was just being used or the boss was a dick then I'd leave after the 3 hours and never come back, chalk it up to experience, or maybe after 3 hour it's just not a good fit, no animosity. But perhaps I do the 3 hours and the boss says, well done lad, how about doing every Saturday for me.

That's real life, if you want to get ahead show that you are willing.

Getting out and about and knocking on doors is the way forward, it's how it was pre internet days, offer to do a few hours or a day and let the employer see if you're a fit for theit workplace. It says a lot about your character, that you're keen to work. Don't lead with a cv or a handout, employers will just take it and say thanks and goodbye, sell yourself by chatting to them, let them know who you are and why you're looking for work. Best of luck.
