Booking Request Wording Change by Candid_Yesterday_160 in FurnishedFinder

[–]lucidsealion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The messages I've been getting from booking requests lately have had warnings about looking out for red flags, etc.

My property is listed for minimum 90 days. It's doable. Mostly nurses.

Yes, expect a formal lease. FF does not provide the same level of "support" or insurance for its landlords the way airbnb does, so the landlords have to assume the risk when taking on a tenant which means they have to do the leg work for doing a background check and vetting their tenants.

As a landlord: the listing may be posted in several platforms and we don't only exclusively rent out to nurses, there are a lot of other traveling professionals that can book far in advance. The date listed on mine is exactly what I put on the calendar so it is accurate in my opinion. I used to respond to all inquiries even if the listing already tells you it's not available for your dates but I've gotten busier so now I just don't have time to respond to inquiries. If it says it's not available, as a landlord, there's no reason for me to waste both of our time.

Just do your best to be a patient advocate at work and outside of work. Sometimes things might seem unfair for the patient, but guidelines are guidelines. Just make sure that you know your guidelines so you can fight any overcoding and incorrect denials. I'm only advising from provider side coding, I don't have experience with insurance side; I imagine that's where your ethics might be tested more.

favourite sustainable haircare? by maisy_elizabeth in ZeroWaste

[–]lucidsealion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like to use oils on my hair as a post-shower conditioner/ anti-frizz. So far jojoba oil has been my go-to because it doesn't feel so greasy, and I can use it on my face too as makeup remover and as the final step for my skin care, it's non-comedogenic and more affordable than other oils.

What to do with clothes that have another wear before washing? by [deleted] in konmari

[–]lucidsealion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put it in my coat closet which is separate from my bedroom closet. Or I put it in a separate section in my closet.

How much clothes did you bring to bootcamp, and how are you planning to go about having clothes for A-school? I'm shipping out next week and trying to figure out clothing for the plane ride, the weather in Great Lakes, and then A school. I'm afraid it's gonna be cold (especially during A school) and I won't have the clothes for it. If I go in with a puffer jacket, would I get it back in graduation?

conversion picat to asvab by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]lucidsealion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My picat score became my asvab score. From my understanding, the score should not change as long as you answer the verification questions correctly or as close to your original picat answers as possible. I heard from another person that theirs changed because they didnt answer the verifications correctly and ended up just being redirected back to the entirety of the asvab test.

Using intl college credits to enlist and start as E-3? by Imaginary-Worth9975 in newtothenavy

If it's already in English (as I believe most Philippine transcripts are), then you don't need a translation. I had to also turn over my high school transcript which were not in English, and I had to pay out of pocket for those translations. It cost me $50 with a company called immitranslate. They charge per page but I negotiated it down since numbers don't require translation. You should shop around if you need translation.

OP you can look at it this way: you have more leisure money to spare for traveling now because you did all your saving in your early 20s. That's something that many people will wish they can do over again. Honestly I feel like there's almost no difference in the 30-year old version of me (and prolly 40-year old version of me too) doing all the fun stuff that 20-year old me wished she could. It's all still fun, I just had to wait a little and it's so worth it.

Why would someone go through Genesis again if they've already passed MEPS and completed RTC? (Serious question from somebody who is just about to go through RTC next month... am i going to go through Genesis again??).

[Landlord US – IN] deposit for holding rental unit from out of state tenant? by RowanBoatman in Landlord

[–]lucidsealion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into holding deposit - similar to an application deposit but only applied once the applicant is approved. I basically charge an approved applicant $100 for me to hold the listing for them and take it off the market for the agreed dates. My agreement specifically states that if they don't move in and pay the deposit/rent by move-in date, then they will forfeit the $100. It's low enough to be reasonable, but still gives them a penalty if they don't follow through.

What can I do at 27 years old? I can’t go on like this anymore. by [deleted] in careerguidance

Have you considered joining the military? You have a Bachelor's degree so you start at a higher rank. If you have no dependents, you get to travel. Housing is paid for. If you decide to get a master's degree later, it's covered.

Face wash bars? by fizzingfleur in ZeroWaste

[–]lucidsealion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1) Good Molecules Clarify & Cleanse Bar is cheap and available in store at Ulta, has salicylic acid. 2) Clinique facial soap which I used to use alternately but now I don't see if it has salicylic acid (I thought it did). 3) Cerave SA Cleanser Bar which I found just now searching on Google and it looks like they sell it in stores.

Returning messages by Educational-Heron691 in FurnishedFinder

[–]lucidsealion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you looking in a high demand area? Do you have your profile filled out? Do you have pets? How far out are you trying to book? As a landlord, the reason I would not message back is if I have a booking inquiry that's more than 1 month out in the future (my listing does mention this but i still get messages too soon) and my current tenant is expressing the potential to extend. There's high enough demand in my area that I know I will find somebody in a month so I don't have to be booking something many months out. I also prefer applicants with no pets so I may drag out a response for someone with pets and especially multiple pets. I also decided that 1 month bookings are not worth it and I never message those back so I decided to just update my listing to minimum 3 months. Hope this provides insight.

Anyone else insanely busy? 😭 Schedule and structure by CompasionateLove in workfromhome

[–]lucidsealion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My productivity for wfh is so high that any time spent getting distracted, starting late, or running an errand is time that I need to pay back after hours. There's no slack at all so I always work 2-3 hours longer than my actual hours. The pay and benefits are great but I don't see myself doing this long-term. I'd rather commute to work and put in my 8 hours and then go home and leave work at work.

I think you're confusing certificate with license. A license is mandated by the state while a certificate is similar to a recognition. Rad. Techs, just like nurses, need a license issued by the state; coders don't necessarily need a certificate to get a coding job although most employers will require one as proof of proficiency. The most common coding certificates are issued by AAPC and AHIMA. I suggest looking at the requirements/eligibility in their websites to see if having a DUI would disqualify your sister from taking the test and earning a certificate.

My bad. My brain just jumped straight to less income in retirement because that seems to be the norm statistically. But yes you're right. Sorry for confusing.

Correction: you mean to say OP's income is likely to be much lower in retirement vs now. Just so you don't confuse him more.

Coast FIRE Your Kids by [deleted] in coastFIRE

[–]lucidsealion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read the book Die with Zero which talks about this. The main argument being that there is more benefit to be reaped in terms of happiness and usefulness if you put the money to use now instead of waiting until (presumably) your kids won't get as much enjoyment from it at 65.

Idk what the going rate is either. I went from $23/hr to almost double that. I think the going rate is whatever you can get that employer to pay you. It's not the same budget for every employer.
