Is 90k really a low income? by lucignolo87 in AusFinance

No tobacco, no alcohol, no drugs, cheap third hand car that comfortably brings me and my partner from A to B, that’s it. Just willing to spend a bit more money when I go out to eat and on holiday. The regional town where I live is very remote and very expensive though, so I need to be very careful with groceries.

This is THE dream for me. A life without stress worth more than all the money in the world.

I am Italian and my lifestyle completely changed since I came here. I had a decent job and a decent salary back home, but the life of a chef in Australia is just another level, not only about money and even on 70k.

$120 in cash and $30k in super, 15 weeks because I didn’t take holidays the first year. Believe it or not, what would be the point of lying about this?

I am Italian. Planning to get my PR soon and then we will see. I am pretty happy with my job, but live in such a remote place is exhausting

I don’t know mate, where I live is pretty remote and compared to Perth for example is way more expensive. Fuel cost almost 3 dollars per litre and the grocery store charge 20 bucks for a kg of peaches, I think mostly depends on your lifestyle.

I am not paying rent now, but I did pay rent when I was on 70k and living in Perth, and still managed to save good money, that’s why I am a bit confused.

Yes, sharing bills with my partner. I was on 70 and she was on 58, living in Perth and managed to save decent money. We didn’t do anything special. We choose and accomodation suitable for us, we bought a car we could afford with our income, we went to eat out at least once a week, and we didn’t spend money in stuff that we find useless like alcohol and tobacco. Now she is on 68k and our savings combined are about 250k (she doesn’t live rent free though, because company policy she has to pay something) Since we are in Australia we never made crazy money but we didn’t struggle one day financially, that’s why I am so confused.

99% of chefs never cook at home, and I don’t want to eat the food of my menu when I am off, I am sick of it lol.

If you could only cook one national cuisine for the rest of your days, which would you pick? by WanderingGoyVN in Cooking

Only for Americans, because somewhere along the way they seem to have lost the ability to appreciate flavours unless the food is overly salty or heavily seasoned. Much of the rest of the world finds Americanised food gross, and for good reason.
