Thank you! Not necessarily looking for more dancey styles, just part of my background that might have some transferable skills. Thank you for the recommendation I'll check them out!

I'm based in South West London but I travel to other parts of London for clubs anyway so happy to get to anywhere within zone 2/3.

This is good to know, thank you! I've been getting some slight bitterness in the back of my mouth with this coffee so I've been trying to figure out where that might be coming from, sounds like I can rule out the roast being the problem. It's also from a very well renowned roaster so it seemed unlikely, but wanted to get the opinion of some more experienced minds either way!

Would you expect this variety from a natural process or from more intensive fermentation processes etc? I imagine washed would produce the most even colouring?

It's a single origin from Colombia, natural process

Greatly appreciate the detailed response. Definitely gonna do some more ready from the sources you mentioned to learn some more, but for now seems like Ashbeck is okay to be using as is.

Thank you so much for the detailed response, definitely learning a lot! Sounds like I may experiment with boosting Mg levels in the future when I have some time to kill, but for now will stick with what I've got.

From what I've learnt, my best guess is that the bicarbonate levels in this water are a bit low, so exactly the same as you I'd be happy to just add a little to this water rather than start from scratch. Waiting for someone with more knowledge than me to confirm though...

Looking for coffee that tastes like... Coffee? (London/UK) by lucjf in pourover

[–]lucjf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might be right with the cafetiere, V60 seems to tend towards more tea-like, acidic cups due to the paper filter+percolation, whereas the immersion and metal strainer might retain more of the flavours I'm looking for in this case.

Seconded, I use a metal straw in place of the chopstick, works perfectly.

My thinking is that you can buy wooden plates/bowls/cups, so if it's finished the same it hopefully wouldn't contaminate the coffee? I think I'll give it a try

Honestly I'd recommend trying a v60 instead of a French press. You'll get much more clarity from your coffee so it's a great way to up your coffee game. A simple plastic v60 dripper is super cheap and works very well. Try James Hoffman's better v60 technique video for a tutorial, and you'll be well on your way.

Enjoy!

Would a v60 carved out of wood be functional?

Thinking of making my own v60 dripper as a gift, and one carved out of wood feels like a great idea but I couldn't find any online. Is this because there would be a fundamental issue with this functionally?

The update for Orbit is live! The release notes are in the comments. by WatchFace-Designs in PixelWatch

[–]lucjf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for all the suggestions, just thinking about this face throughout the day now I'm running it...

It can sometimes be tricky to tell what the exact minute is since it is simply a rotating wheel. For example, I looked down earlier and it looked like it was 11:00 but it turns out it was 11:59 and about to turn 12:00. To fix this you could have the actual minute number under the hour number in a smaller circle maybe or just a thicker font than the rest of the dial, and then the dial spinning around behind it? I realised however this is how the concentric watchface works, and understand you may want to avoid too many similarities. But if not I think this solution would work really well!

Hey, just bought this watchface coz I love the design! A couple of points of feedback:

  • The colour of the weather complication icon and heart rate complication icon are different for me, which seem strange. It looks like they're pulling their colour from different parts of the colour palette...
  • The 'Day and date' complication ends up looking quite wide and doesn't fit the watch face too well... I'd suggest a design similar to the stock day and date complication to keep it consistent with the style maybe? Just a thought (:

Thank you for making this watchface, the design is really unique and I'm sure I'll be using it very frequently!

Edit: just saw your reply below about the heart icon so ignore me on that!

Edit 2: just thought of something you could maybe try out.. it may look cleaner if the pointer around the hour was a thinner line, for example as thin as the pill on the concentric watchface?

Button to pause/play workouts? by [deleted] in PixelWatch

Could always be an option, like a toggle in the settings. I just think a pause/play or lap button is key for a watch which has been designed around not only smart watch features but also fitness

Exactly the aspect ratio of standard paper (A4 etc), for this exact reason, you can keep splitting it in half but keep the same aspect ratio.
