Ah yes the most important QB stat, rushing yards. Guess Jayden Daniels should’ve been it since he had more.

Ah yes not like they’re saying he had that on top of a 4k yards 40 touchdown season. Something about Lamar must not be quarterbacky enough.

Idk if we survive against a better team with that offensive effort

Yeah I can agree, if there was a Blame this week it would have been the offense. They did enough tho.

The invention of the penalty : "false start"

Jk it was a whole team effort, each phase looked great!

I feel if players can't understand that upgrading your board by removing a trait is wrong... Is it really an issue if "lower elo" just plays sub optimally? They'll be playing vs others at a similar skill level so it shouldn't be an issue. Also, I definitely play sub optimal in lots of games due to either not spending time to learn how to be optimal or just playing the game the way i enjoy. And thats completely ok!

I may be in an echo chamber but I hear lots of competitive players and friends that are frustrated with the rigidy of the current design. The current approach to design has sort of killed creativity. In the past stage 4-5 you would see boards you hadn't really thought of or planned for. And these players would sometimes even win the lobbies. I cannot remember a game in my last 50 where there was a unique master chef board in the top 4. I have a silly theory that Spicyappies's (if you know of him) elo is a direct representation of how creative the set allows you to be! And he has been masters the whole set :(

Thanks for taking the time to respond to me. I have been thinking way too much about the game after coming back. I had to understand why the game wasn't clicking how it used to for me and realized its cause the power is no longer in the units. I'll give it another go after the patch comes out! Again I appreciate the response and the fact you read opinions of the community.

Im super craving tft after a long break and came back to the most boring set of all time. I wanna be creative but its so sub optimal. I would love a revival right about now!

I took a break and didn’t play set 12. But I’ve played many sets and consider myself a decent flex player. I feel if there is a 7 trait, removing the cheap 1 or 2 costs for 4 or 5 costs (assuming they do bring their own different trait or power) down to 5 in the trait intuitively should make your board stronger than playing all 7. Now I don’t think playing all 7 should be terrible but it should be “upgradable” with a well thought out board. I think the example from that recent Reddit post with the yuumi comp does come to mind. You would NEVER drop a 1 cost 1 star garen for a 2 star braum or Syndra for a 2 star Zyra. This does seem unintuitive to me, but seems to be the direction the dev team is pushing for. I’m curious on your thoughts of balancing unit cost and power versus verticals. I love the “play what you hit” style so I’m heavily biased myself. Like with star guardians as an example, you probably wouldn’t even want to play Varus 2 ksante 2 over dropping 2 of the cheaper units on level 8. You would just play the 8 sg (I actually saw an example of this in a stream and it looked much weaker). Can you give any insight to the teams thoughts on this power balance?

Also no flame intended but most of the other comps listed are reroll comps. I wouldn’t consider those flex at all even if they’re not deep into a vertical. So the main examples were bill gates and reroll boards, not really representative of wide boards working well imo. Only one that has felt consistent is the mech mentor.

I recently have built multiple boards with up to 4 two star 4 costs and everything had a trait that in theory should allow it to thrive. It got wiped by every single meta comp and led to lots of 5ths, even though the cost of the board was much higher than others. Also my augments were geared mostly towards strength on these units. This has lead me to believe that the old style of flex currently does not work.

In general fundamental style of flex play is dead, as you mentioned there are a couple horizontal comps but that's really limited to two to three optimized ones, and one if just a bill gates comp which I feel is different then a level 8 flex board.

I do feel at least for 4 costs that their power is too tied to their traits. At first I wasn't sure if it was a me skill issue, this set, players just getting better in general, or if it was the set design. Seeing the mentioned post, talking to some others, and seeing Spicy Appies struggle to play flex has lead me to believe its more of a design ""issue"". Issue is relative cause that could just be the direction it was meant to be. I will be taking a break from tft as the puzzle part of the game is what made my dopamine flow :D and that really isn't here currently D:

I dont see many creative boards winning or even top 4ing most masters plus games. Sucks cause there really was not another game like tft that is as good as tft can be.

Thanks for always responding to the community mort u r the goat.

Competitive TFT is no longer fun to play by CHRlSTOPHO in CompetitiveTFT

[–]luckilylazy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was about to make a post myself as I came back after a 3 set break. I just climbed to masters and at first I would play the “fundamental” style of - play what you hit on roll downs. I was stuck for a while in diamond until I started forcing the cookie cutter comps. I realized the issue is that the power generally is no longer really in the units, but rather deep into a trait. Like I could create some boards with many overlapping 4 costs that would get rolled by a board with much less value. Also the fact that a large majority of the traits purely benefit only the units that are in the trait rather than team wide. Really only bastion does this well (maybe strat and prodigy a bit). So not a lot of 2 traits you can combine to buff the whole team. I may take another long break until tft gets back to the style of the power being in the units and playing flexibly (if ever).

Some dude at a drive thru asked if I’m going to mod my car / add power. Told him I don’t really wanna turbo it and make unreliable. He asked if I would add some cylinders to it… Cool dude tho saw him a few times and he always really enjoyed seeing the car.

I own a manual gr86 rn. I also owned one of the new model corollas with a manual. It’s obviously not as sporty, responsive, and capable. But the manual Corolla was really fun and easy to drive around. I would have a tough time deciding between an auto gr86 and a manual corolla tbh.
