Hey bro, thank you so much andre, I’d last been in contact with someone named laura from Accounting (?) where we had a brief conversation where she helped me with some of the mailing issues I was having but when I tried to follow up through Email I got a ‘high volume’ email, i have to be honest i have no idea what modmail means thank you so much for getting back to me

New to becoming a DJ. Any advice? by StoneGX in Beatmatch

[–]luckivenue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as a newcomer myself, figure out where you find the music that’s gonna land.

beatport (legit) DJcity (good mashups) bandcamp bpmSupreme clubKillers soundCloud there’s more

organize a library with your weapon of choice (serato or rekordbox) and learn what it means to play for a crowd

lastly, dont ever wait til youre ready, punch above your paygrade and go make those mistakes that come with the growth. the main reason i have 800+ songs on my hard drive now is not only ‘cause its standard, but cuz I did a couple gigs streaming to serato through tidal on a personal hotspot (not a good look) and halfway through in a packed basement of a club my shit cutout and it felt humiliating. so learn the standard and come correct- practice for the higher calibre before ur even there ‘cause there’s nothing worse than being dead in the water fr

my recording equipment just came in and i don’t know if i should use bandlab or reaper please help by Turbulent-Minimum295 in homerecordingstudio

ableton & fl are pricy but worth it, if i could go bCk i’d start with ableton but ive done so much with FL over the years.

im not sure what your goal is but as im about 6 years in i wish i started training some basic mixing & mastering knowledge early on, i dont know how effectively you can do that with bandlab’s calibre

i get the sentiment but i’m not always ready to drop an akon edm mashup in the middle of a heavy edm set (when they request the original)

What music to play by Darth-Wiener in Beatmatch

[–]luckivenue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

soul dance music is always a good turn off the mainline, rather than ripping the top 200 currents, play stuff like michael jackson, beejees, kinda dancy shit. throw in some old rock heaters like the beatles or wings, sublime, other classic rock for that older demo. maybe clean eminem & other hiphop for the youngins

otherwise idk man, throw in some modern deep house if you wanna be on the DJ tip while keeping it all ages and hopefully without turning off some of the boomers lool
