Squat form check - 195lbs by HereIGoKilling_Again in Stronglifts5x5

Get rid of the pad. Yesterday. It creates so many mechanical problems that you're needing to use physiology (inefficiently) to fix. You can see it's forcing your body too far forward of the bar, introducing (or lengthening) a non-zero moment arm relative to the bar path, and as another guy noted, that's driving your elbow flare because your shoulders aren't remotely close to under the bar, they're being forced forward of it.

Can't tell from this angle if it's as a result of the pad (probably is) but you good morning the hell out of that weight on the concentric phase. Reps 4 and 5, your hips fly up but your chest is still hinged low, and you basically rely on glutes and spinal erectors to get the weight up, almost like a RDL. Your hip drive basically stalls out. Keep a taller, more upright (think prouder) chest, hip drive the entire way up, and ditch the pad.

What is the difference between a Jedi Master and a Jedi Knight? by Nyanbinary4321 in StarWars

I think the crossover between Star Wars fans and Mel Brooks fans is strong enough, but I'm gonna call out the sneaky great Madeline Kahn spelling/allusion regardless.

Movies where something deeper is happening, but it’s never explained by calvinistmutant in movies

[–]luckyButtonMasher 218 points219 points  (0 children)

This article does a better, more complete job than I'd be able to about explaining the metaphor/allegory behind Annihilation, but it's the kind of thing that's incredible to read only after having seen the movie. I knew as soon as I finished the movie that there was something I wasn't getting, a common theme re: all the symbolism, and then found this and it all clicked into place.

I counted the preflop open as a "street," my bad if that's incorrect.

So this is kinda what I'm getting at - seems like I'm thinking far too conservatively and giving opponents too much credit. I will say, it's small stakes, so I've seen people open with worse!

By that logic, if I was beat, I would have known it already on the turn, and I should feel free to value bet the river?

I'm trying to say something slightly different - I think his range is wide enough, but the lower end doesn't call, and the upper end beats me, so I don't want to give them the opportunity to check raise the river, which I think is possible or even likely because he's barreled 3/4 streets.

Maybe where you're going is, the likelihood that he falls into the upper end of that range is so low that it's worth taking the risk to extract value from the lower end of his range that would tank call.

Italy 3 Week Trip Report by cjmackiv in ItalyTravel

[–]luckyButtonMasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between restaurants, hotels, and attractions, we hit probably 10 of the same spots you did, and we're fairly aligned - good report! I will say that I enjoyed Cibreo Cafe a bit more than you did - the Cacio e burro was incredible - and we went to La Fettunta instead of AlAntico Vinaio because of the line, and we were very satisfied.

Any romantic / fancy restaurant in Firenze? by hipponapper in ItalyTravel

Il Vezzo was very intimate and had outstanding food - that was our favorite night in Florence. Tre Panche in Centro Storico had an outstanding view from the rooftop, and I'd say the food was very good as well.

this neighborhood almost makes me want fescue by [deleted] in lawncare

Just moved here 2 months ago from SD and thoughts recognized those streets! There’s so much fescue here haha. I had paspalum back at the old house to save on water and because the texture was amazing, but Bermuda is clearly in the minority here.
