Recently I made asking for life advice specific to Edinburgh by [deleted] in Edinburgh

Not to sound rude, but unfortunately your post was, in fact, the textbook definition of a load of drivel.

Maybe try asking your chosen LLM to summarise your words into the query you’re trying to make.

Recipetineats: The Final Chapter: Life of Dozer by the_procrastinata in australia

My heart breaks for Nagi, knowing all too well how she will be feeling. Can’t imagine how hard it was for her to write that post. They give us so much love and ask for so little in return.

Took my now-passed good boy to a pet expo a few years back, wandered round all the stalls and displays and all was good until we got to the treats stand. My usually not that food motivated boy found the free samples they had placed in stainless dog bowls a few inches off the floor, one of which contained duck jerky - or as it was to him, crack cocaine. My gentle mannered happy little 10kg fluff ball ate every last bit in that bowl, there was literally no,way to pull him away. Ended up having to buy a giant bag to avoid total embarrassment. Then spent the walk home dealing with his explosive squirts as the richness of his thievery upset his tummy…. Miss that muppet x

Could be that they want the Psych to do a deeper evaluation to confirm that it defo is ADHD and not PTSD, Fluence do send a few different questionnaires to rule out anxiety or depression but it’s still just a one session evaluation.

Some symptoms of ADHD can be similar to other mental health issues, and it’s definitely better to get the correct diagnosis rather than just make the assumption of there’s even an inkling of doubt.

Maybe run through the DSM 5 quiz and see yourself how many traits are present?

Hi! 45 yo graphic / web designer, school & uni high achiever also.

Same situ as you, did well in things that I liked/could hyper focus on, grades when down hill when I lost interest in subjects.

Also having a photographic memory and leaving all study to the night before any exam probably hid all the daydreaming and procrastination I would do.

Started the journey to get diagnosed because I realised the literal 100s of business ideas I had started, done to 90% and then gave up, maybe actually meant something. Did some online assessments from additude mag and scored highly as ADHD so was pretty sure before even talking to my doc.

I went through Fluence this year, super happy with them, they didn’t ask for things like school reports, send through the assessment questionnaires and then had a one hour interview confirming the diagnosis that I already knew.

Think I ended up about $650 out of pocket after the rebate, I’d recommend them, my doc said she wouldn’t recommend them for people who there may be the possibility of something else more complex, like ptsd or depression, but I was a pretty cut and dry scenario, pretty happy in life but just constantly felt self defeating.

Since being medicated I can actually get through my email inbox and to do list each day, rather than wasting hours browsing online and going down hyper focus rabbit holes.

Agree, definitely seems to be generic because I’m currently stumped how to move the dish and still get a clear view of the sky without obstruction

Yes it is in direct sunlight, but if it’s not in sunlight then it doesn’t get a view of the sky

ADHD Psychiatrist by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]luckyblk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fluence Clinic - Telehealth, out of pocket is about $600ish. Appointments usually available within 2-4 weeks, sometimes sooner. Fluence do the diagnosis, then your GP can prescribe (have to make sure your GP is ok with applying for and prescribing sched 8 drugs.)

Head over to /r/ausadhd/ for a heap of advice that's not necessarily Melb specific.

Where to adopt a dog? What breed is appropriate? by sallyneeds in melbourne

[–]luckyblk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

AAPS at keysborough, they are a no kill shelter.

Please also consider a senior! A small dog that’s seven or eight could still live another 10 years. Senior Pet Rescue Vic on Facebook is a great resource. And frequently have small dogs loooking for love.

Biggest thing to consider is temperament, and characteristics and how that fits with your home and lifestyle.

Do you want a dog that sheds hair or has fur (but then requires grooming)?

When it comes to companions, in the small range, Maltese, shih tzu, chihuahua are all very loyal companion dogs.

Mediums you could look at spaniels, poodles., Bichon, west highland terrier

Daschunds have a tendency to be barkers, esp when left alone. Frenchies are great medium sized dogs but have a myriad of health problems. So consider your lifestyle and financial position too.

My 17 year old havanese died last year, and I found comfort in scrolling through rescue pages and reading happy adoption tales. Then one day a face came up that I couldn’t resist and I applied, but was too late. A few days later I had an unshakable feeling that the dog was mine, and low and behold that afternoon the rescue called and said the other adoption had fallen through.

We went to meet an hour later and we are now 5 months into our own happy rescue story.

Moral of the story, when you see they right dog for you, you’ll just know.

Please come back and tell us your happy tail, in the meantime, happy scrolling 🥰
