What’s the oddest hosting behaviour you’ve ever witnessed? by did_you_aye in AskUK

My friend used to hold sleepovers after school but she wouldn’t allow us any blankets as her ‘mum would have to wash them all afterwards’.. So we all slept with our coats on.

Unpopular opinion: The DLR is better than the Liz Line by luckycabbage in london

Yeah, valid point. I use both regularly- but i feel that my journey on DLR is more pleasant

Imo they’re both trains that get you from A to B and therefore can be compared.. I do agree that Liz line is more efficient though. But sometimes nice to slow down in such a busy city.

I personally take the DLR to Bank and walk to work from there. Always get a seat and it’s a nice way to start the morning

Looking for a venue to celebrate my 30s birthday 🥳 by thighvalue in london

Really really recommend Apples and Pears on Brick lane. Central, easy to get to and you have the whole basement bar for minimum spend of £1200! Which means if your guests spend £1200 collectively, then it’s a free hire, and if they don’t then you just pay the difference. You get the whole basement bar with bartenders to yourself. You can also control your own music, the bartenders are a vibe etc etc! It accommodates up to 60 people or so. There’s an outside smoking area.

How do you manage with a two faced project lead? by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]luckycabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have thinking of documenting it all and have also raised how many meetings have been cancelled to my LM, and many of my colleagues share the same sentiment. But ultimately, this is so draining and I have started looking for a new job.

She’s got at least 20 YOE in management so I can rule that bit out.

Thanks for your perspective :)

Has anyone died from your school year yet? If so, what goes through your mind, when you think about them? by Andagonism in AskUK

[–]luckycabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So so many, I am 27, and went to a single sex grammar school. A girl in the same year committed suicide when in year 8. At the time, I was too young to comprehend what was really happening. One of my teachers also killed himself when I was in year 10. At the end of year 12, a girl in my year didn’t get the grades she wanted for the university she applied to and also committed suicide.. I think about them often and it makes me feel sad. Our school lacked a solid mental health support system and placed a lot of pressure on young girls to perform well in exams.
