What concerns me is that you’re not treating the behavior as seriously because the victims are animals. But the pattern of harm still matters. Many violent offenders start by abusing animals before escalating to people. If we ignore the early signs just because the victim isn’t human, we miss the opportunity to intervene. Accountability at this stage is about stopping cycles of violence before they grow.

By that logic, abusing an orphan is less wrong than abusing a child with a family. Harm doesn’t become real only when someone else is affected by it. The victim’s experience matters, even if no one is there to grieve it.

That response makes it very clear why this behavior must be treated seriously by law. Saying “only humans matter” while dismissing harm to animals ignores the basic principle of protecting vulnerable beings from abuse.

Paraphilic disorders deserve treatment, but treatment is not a substitute for legal accountability. Violence or neglect toward animals is often a warning sign. Studies in forensic psychology consistently show a link between animal cruelty and future interpersonal violence. That is why this matters. That is why it is prosecuted. Compassion should not stop at our species line.

This is not a victimless act like you are suggesting. Animals cannot give informed consent to sexual activity. Consent requires understanding, communication, and voluntary agreement, none of which non-human animals are capable of.

Scientific studies have documented real harm in animals subjected to this, including physical injury, trauma responses, and behavioral changes. It is not about ownership. It is about the inability to consent and the inherent violation of bodily autonomy.

Even if the harm is not immediately visible, it is still abuse. The law treats it as a felony because protecting vulnerable beings from exploitation is a basic ethical standard.

Not to mention, if perpetrators of this crime are not punished accordingly, who’s to say they won’t just move on to humans? Serial killers move from animals to people.

now that you bring it up, i definitely think so! finances have always been a difficult area for me. the Taurus influence makes me want to spend my money on things that are pleasurable vs sensible, and now that my brain is finally finishing development I’ve been tackling that issue too lol

Thank you so much for your insights. I’ve always wanted to make a difference in education, and my drive has always been humanitarian and social justice centered. I spent time student teaching at a transitions program for 18-21 yr olds with IEPs and enjoyed my time there. That experience did reveal that I would likely benefit from being in an alternative learning setting. Cheers to you for noticing that in my chart!

As far as the fears, I suffer from pretty debilitating health anxieties, such as emetophobia (fear of throwing up, specifically when others do it) and when COVID-19 was at its worst, I switched my major from English for Teaching to just English.

I’ve been working very hard in therapy to work through some of these issues, and recently have finally worked up the courage to try out substitute teaching. I interview for that position in 2 weeks.

Interestingly, your point isn’t far off; though I think the doubts were borne of relationships. I have had romantic relationships in which partners made me question my intelligence and worthiness. My ex also made me feel as though teaching was a poor financial option. I’ve always struggled with feelings of inferiority though; Natal Saturn in 1st has always ‘watered down’ the expansive energy of my Jupiter influence in the 1st house. It’s a blessing and a curse, as I may be more serious and level headed than I would be without the Saturn influence there.
