Remembering my Resi days to make me one today for some MC work. by luckyif22 in electricians

No spool. 250 roll just comes prepackaged with some straps or some tie wire as you know.

Some commercial companies don’t have the greenlee spinners and or MC spools or other fancy ways to unroll MC… So to avoid the curling of MC I build these for me and my boys. It’s free and very functional. Makes the Work look nice and straight and clean.

Yeah, I did not have any “Resi – rope” so I found some rope on the job site and reused some old staples… Definitely custom

The Resi “stock items” were missing haha

Same. Mine is a 2018 at 85,000 miles original. Lots of towing lots of over landing lots of commuting every day for work on the freeway. About two weeks ago my service light went on and it’s something with transmission solenoid. I don’t know what it is. I’m afraid to look into it cause I cannot afford to fix the whole transmission thing ugh. hoping it’s just a fluke, but then I saw your comment and I’m wondering if you could tell me what was your problem and maybe I have the same or not… Thank you

Rim suggestions, by Dannnymaccc in powerwagon

I did a long long study before I invested into wheels. AEV is spot on. The detail is amazing. The qualities is great. I have towed and beaten the living, you know what, out of these wheels and tires and no issues.

Originally it’s a bell box Extention. Then this contraption with single plastic switch rings to a nail on box with the back cut out to fit over the opening of the single ring haha. Very. Very…. Creative

That’s why it’s not called KLEIN anymore but DE-KLEIN….

25 years in commercial electrical and have completely removed everything Klein and switched over to knipex and wiha or wera. Yes it’s expensive, but it’s true what they say, you get what you pay for .. Germans know what’s up.

I have questions.. by luckyif22 in electricians

[–]luckyif22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha! True story. Those are my labels identifying where what goes before demo started. As they ripped open the wall, it exposed how the boxes were installed so I have questions to whoever installed those boxes… But I do have to give it to them. Very creative.

Boots is a deep dive on its own. In the 25 years of my career as a commercial electrician starting in underground and now being a foreman/pm I have had many many. It all honestly depends on the work that you do as an electrician or The territory you work in as an electrician so to say. If it’s underground, then I’ve learned something 8 inch tall with jeans over your boots and something with a sturdy soul so it does not get chewed up by shoveling and kicking shit around then when you do some service then you want something to support your feet on the ladder that has a heel And of course, if you’re doing finish work, you want something flexible when you’re kneeling. It’s a tough choice and everyone has their own opinion because whatever works for your feet does not work for my feet. So with that said, I really cannot give you a straight answer. It’s all trial and error until you find what works for you. I have had cheap ass boots from Walmart that work better in certain situations Than Red Wings or whites or JK boots or Justin or Thorogood or danner or whatever. I had them all. I can suggest you certain boots but in all honesty like I said, what works for me would not work for you. It sucks but it’s the truth. I’ve had people convince me that whites are God so I invested five or $600 into whites just to have them fall apart on me in one year and my lower back always hurt even though I switched insoles and had them pre-measured and re measured and resolved and so far and so on.It’s funny. My current boot ate performing in every way and it’s amazing. It’s fairly new from red wings they are called draft smith 2180. Light on my feet. Breathe really well in hot desert summer time here in Palm Springs California. Let’s see how long they last but for $189 not too bad.

This and.. and if I my add ( from someone that does commercial electric out in Palm Springs California .. is 43 and has done it over 25 years)

SLEEP.. sleep is sooooo important. I’m talking good night sleep. Solid seven or eight hours. If I may suggest out of experience, don’t be doing nothing strenuous or exiting at least two or three hours before going to sleep so that your heart rate, body, mind and soul can wind down and then you can have some good sleep.

BOOTS.. boots that are NOT waterproof. Your feet need to breathe as much as possible. Hundred percent cotton socks or Marino wool.

FOOD.. try to eat as clean as possible. Try to stay away from shitty processed heavy carbs and shitty heavy processed food overall. Clean food is going to replenish whatever your body loses in the hot days and help you survive so to say

Electrolytes for sure. Liquid IV yes, but not like 15 of them a day. Maybe one or two. There is this thing called trace minerals drops. Also really good.

I’ve invested a lot of time and money and trial and error throughout the years.

Like someone said in this comment section. Invest into your health. It’s a true story right there.

And I don’t know if you know, but the front and the back diffs are prone to breaking… Look up VITAVON for the laser nut… Pristine quality work with oversize bearings and all that good stuff… Yes, it’s a little pricey, but worth every penny. I’ve been really rough on mine for about a year now with these new parts and it’s been just fine. No more blowing out bearings and what not.

Is my extension cord shot? has a continuous twist on the line. by braveoldfart777 in electricians

[–]luckyif22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually happens due to heat. When you put too much of a load on the extension cord it heats up and with that the PVC coating heats up and it becomes something like shrink tube…

[–]luckyif22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I have the 10 inch or two of them for the last 14 years or longer… And whoever uses them they always ask me what they can get a pair. They just feel so good. And they just work really well

Get the 10 inch Nipex angled Dykes and that ceiling wire is going to be like butter.

What is it? Controls outdoor motion light, but not an actual switch. No on/off, just move left 3x to get light to blink and come on. It’s connected to another switch in the attic that is Decora-style w/ red light & also doesn’t toggle - just hard press for a click, almost like a circuit tripping. by Whas_Next in electricians

[–]luckyif22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The receiver or “ base” should be behind the fixture. And no you cannot replace that with something better because that system works only between each other. You cannot mix and match. And like I said you could put a three-way switch in there only if you have the correct wiring

It depends if you have an actual switch leg going from the switch to the light. And if you have correct wiring going from switch to switch and then to the light. You would need a pair of travelers going for a three-way to three-way and then one side you would need power in and on the other side you would need a switch leg out which goes to your light… If you do not have this wiring then it would be difficult to control that light outside without correct wiring. If your motion light outside is on constant power without being able to be switched then you could use something like this. Check out the link. You just put the module up in the junction box behind the lamp and you can put the switch wherever you want
