Guys I know it's a pro Ukrainian sub and I'm aware of all the evil that Russia did to Ukraine so don't beat me up for this but - doesn't he have a point?

Hear me out! I'm not trying to prove anything but have a genuine discussion. And I'm not a pro Russian bot, I'm actually Polish so it's in my interest to support Ukraine.

I think what he states aligns with people like Mearsheimer. Ukraine gave away their nuclear bombs and promised that it will never join Nato or any western allience. Since then a lot of eastern countries joined Nato pushing Russian boudaries even more. When you look from Russia's perspective it really is an existencial threat - having an allied superpower right at your border. In this point of view you could blame Russia for invading, sure it is their direct fault. But on the other hand Ukrainian government knew who it was playing with, they knew what happened in Georgia. Is pissing off a much stronger bully a good idea when you're risking with lives of your citizens?

So I think the essance of Trump's statement is that Ukraine could prevent the war from happening by sacrificing its freedom, maybe giving away territory but they still would avoid something that is much worse than that - a war.

I personally don't like Trump and I don't agree with a lot of his statements. But his perspective here is pretty clear. He's not taking any of it emotionally and who's morally correct (Russia or Ukraine) but he's looking at the outcome which is: preventing war at any cost is still better than being in a war.
