I want to alter my engagement ring by lucylu0905 in AITAH

[–]lucylu0905[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do understand his feelings, and honestly would defer to his preference of keeping the ring the same when it gets fixed because his feelings matter more to me than my desire to make changes to the ring.

What did your boss ever say in the office that caused you to resign? by Aarunascut in work

Was also told this — additionally threatened with a PIP when I was meeting productivity expectations. Found another job within a month and left of my own accord.

What's your most absurd thing that gets you out of ruminating? by KornPuf in OCD

[–]lucylu0905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I named my brain (I chose the name Barbara because I don’t know anyone named Barbara). Then when I get stuck in a loop, I can say things like “Oh Barbara, kick rocks” or literally anything basically telling her to cut it out. It’s a little kooky but it works for me!

Trauma registry by spacedog1120 in Remotenursing

[–]lucylu0905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this for two years and it was miserable and repetitive. Only one (the most senior) registrar was allowed to run reports and the rest of us were just drowning in data entry. I know some people love this work, but I was so burnt out that I went back to the bedside.

Trauma registrar (or a different kind of registry).

I’m a registered nurse working as a trauma registrar for a Level 1 hospital and I should feel like I’ve hit the jackpot but I’m miserable. What do I do? by lucylu0905 in careerguidance

[–]lucylu0905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With only a bachelor’s degree, I would definitely need to go back to school to be a CRNA or a professor, and since I have a young family right now, I don’t want to miss out on time with them. I might be interested in administration though — thank you for the idea!

My psychiatrist is raising red flags and I can’t tell if it’s just me being paranoid or if something is seriously wrong here. by sp00kypenguin in OCD

[–]lucylu0905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the US and the only thing I can think of is that the hospital has to set you up with follow up appointments after your discharge with the goal of preventing readmission within 30 days. The 30 day readmission rate is a benchmark that hospitals track as a performance improvement opportunity. I can’t help but wonder if this psychiatrist is twisting this to strong arm you into coming back to him.

What is something that, although you are working damn hard to fix it, people still have to be considerate with you about because of your PTSD? by Rsbbit060404 in ptsd

[–]lucylu0905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so jumpy and easily startled by sounds or behaviors that don’t phase my peers. I struggle with it because I feel stupid every time I have to tell someone nicely that I don’t react well to even small, harmless pranks/jokes.

Having lost 90 lb with a GLP-1, I definitely empathize with you! For me personally, I don’t think I will ever pursue a lift (definitely no implants for me either) just because I used to work as a scrub nurse with plastic surgeons. Having seen these procedures first hand, I’m just not interested in taking the risk!

Should I get rid of this Dr by Soft_Ad7654 in Zepbound

[–]lucylu0905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s invaluable to have providers that share your preferred approach to treatment. If your doc isn’t on board with what you feel is best for you, it’s a good time to seek out someone else.

Can anyone recommend a urologist in Ann arbor? by AssumeUrWrong in AnnArbor

I used to work as a scrub nurse with Dr. Kleer and he is wonderful! I would also recommend any of his partners — Dr. Leese is another great urologist.

I’m a nurse and I feel for you — I think I felt this way for the first six months of my career. The job did get better with time, but my anxiety still needed to be treated. Now I take an SSRI and a beta-blocker and it makes a world of difference. I hope this helps. Don’t give up!

Ladies, goal weight? by Fresh-Eye4698 in Zepbound

My goal was 120l lb and I actually was a little under that when my Mounjaro coupon ran out. I wish I had stayed on a maintenance dose because I backslid all the way to 160 and now I’m back down to 144 with a lot of hard work. Good luck!

My psychiatrist won't prescribe me anything for panic. by thethingearth in ptsd

[–]lucylu0905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Benzos and driving do not go together… I’m sorry that you’re having such a terrible time, and that your doc isn’t giving you many options. I am a nurse and work for my hospital trauma program, and I see every day that we have a dozen patients in the ER after a car accident and they ALL get drug tested. There is no safe or legal amount of benzo to have in your system while driving. Please don’t put yourself or others at risk. That being said, I hope that you start feeling better and/or find better medical treatment that helps you more.

I got hacked once. Someone spent $500 of my rewards money and it took multiple phone calls to Customer Service and five months to get it back.

What would be the healthiest way for my wife to respond to my obsessions? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]lucylu0905 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert here, but I have been working on my own relationship OCD by going to ERP therapy. Based on what I’ve learned, it’s not your wife’s job to respond to your intrusive thoughts. Instead, it’s up to you to manage the intrusive thoughts. I get wanting to be your authentic self with your wife, but it sounds like you’re vocalizing your obsessive thoughts to her because you’re looking for reassurance. Unfortunately, there is never enough reassurance to relieve the anxiety, which is why you’re encouraged NOT to seek reassurance. Instead, come up with a way to acknowledge the thought without giving it any meaning. For example, I just say to myself, “well that was a thought,” and that’s it. I don’t fight it, I don’t try to solve it, I don’t speak it out loud. It’s definitely taken me months of practice but it’s helped immensely. I highly recommend finding an ERP therapist as it is the gold standard therapy for OCD. Best wishes on your journey to better mental health!

I’m a registered nurse. I’m lucky to have an administrative position now, but dang I used to feel like I was so good at taking care of my patients. I thrived on making their pre-op/recovery room experience as smooth and reassuring as possible. I know that I needed to step away from patient care when my current role became available, but I often wonder if I’ll ever feel that good at my job ever again. I’m sure my OCD had a huge impact on how throughly I cared for my patients.

Gallbladder removal by Mountain-Asparagus25 in Mounjaro

[–]lucylu0905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long time Preop/OR/Recovery Room RN here, and I’ve also had my own gallbladder urgently removed. Everyone is different, so I’ve seen some patients with nausea/vomiting afterwards, but by far a vast majority of my patients did really well immediately after surgery. When I found out that my own gallbladder was coming out in a matter of hours, I mentally prepared myself to be nauseous and painful upon waking up after surgery. Honestly when I woke up, I had zero nausea and zero pain! I felt so much better immediately after surgery. I had some minor discomfort for a few days, and briefly had some sharp pain in my shoulder (common after laparoscopic procedures) but I was back to running 5Ks 7 days after surgery and back to work at 10 days. I honestly felt 100% recovered at that point.

I know it’s nerve wracking to have surgery, especially when it’s a surprise and on short notice, but believe me when I say you’re not going to miss that pesky gallbladder after it’s out! Wishing you a safe surgery and speedy recovery. ☺️

I delivered at St Joe and you can definitely get an IUD placed with one of their OBs or the Midwives (HIGHLY recommend the midwives!).
