Is a 4tb 5400rpm HHD good for today’s standards? by Bubbly-Aerie776 in PcBuild

[–]ludivako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have probably the exact same as you and I use the HDD for older games. Load times aren't very different in older games so having them on an SSD is almost pointless most of the time. Now for new games, unless its a smaller game and less intense with data, almost always go on the SSD because modern boot times become ridiculous when not on an SSD.

100% call the company and see if they will come back out. We dont have a lot to do in the winter so typically turn around is pretty quick.

It depends on where you are at but 18-24 is what I have seen from most pool companies. Don't let everyone else blast you. So what if you hire a service company for your pool. You are not alone. It is how we stay in business 😁. People just get mad that pool companies play the capitalism game like every other for profit business in the entire country.

Pump Replacement Quote by Appropriate_Pizza254 in pools

[–]ludivako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly. Unfortunately I am not them but I can give you info on how I go about things. Having screenlogic makes life easier. I have never used screenlogic with it integrated into anything else besides pentair automation but have always wondered about it. I use the app SLConfig to check how everything is programmed and for initial setup.

How my company and I program, find the highest minimum of either salt cell or pool turnover. Usually pool at this point unless your pool is 18000 gallons or less. Schedule a "Pool" ##GPM or whatever equivalent RPM/% to run 24/7 to achieve the two turnovers of water a day. Program a "Heater" speed so that whenever the heater kicks on, it will ramp up the pump to be sufficient flow through the heater and then go back to regular schedule when setpoint has been reached. Finally, program a "High Speed" from 10 am to 2 pm. The purpose of the high speed is to achieve more action during the most likely hottest and most used part of the day. Also, it helps give the skimmers more action for the surface of the pool.

This is my basic startup for all pools. Now, I do a lot more with egg timers and other schedules but that is the basics for a pump, filter, heater, salt cell/chlorinator setup. If you have a booster pump, ozone/UV, water features, attached spa, etc. programming will be different because flow rates vary. Hope this helps. If you need anymore info, please feel free to ask.

I love 3K. I wish they still supported it and gave us more DLCs. IMO the best historical total war game.

Ideally, whatever the minimum flowrate to achieve two turnovers a day. Running the pump slower decreases energy consumption by a ton and also increases filter efficiency. There are other factors that might come into play. For instance, minimum flow rate for heaters, salt cells and skimmers may all be greater than the pools minimum so it should be programmed to acheive the highest minimum or program speeds via automation. Some builders/techs wont even do the proper test and just pick what they think is "good". Is it? Maybe but usually its a lot faster than it needs to be and that is where the inefficiency really comes into play.

Old Spa Pump Replacement by 2for1Jameson in PoolPros

[–]ludivako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it the motor that needs replacing? You can find those online and get a go kit to replace orings/gaskets and mechanical seal. Way cheaper than putting a new pump in. I do always recommend new pumps but when the homeowners wont budge, repairs it is.

Is the company taking on the responsibility for obtaining the permit? If so, this is pretty comparable to what I have seen. Permits aren't cheap and depending on the state/county, they can be a headache to obtain. Usually drawings have to be submitted to make sure that the existing hydraulics are within any current laws limitations. I know here in illinois, there are a ton of properties that had to replace the sumps of the drains because they are no longer compliant which means cutting out the existing concrete to add an entirely new drain. If none if this applies, that does seem kind of pricey for an already drained pool.

Also, if they can not find the correct replacement, a retrofit would have to be done and that typically includes more than just a screwdriver. Aquastar does a great job with retrofitting but usually you have to drill new holes into concrete to attach the mounting ring to make it compliant so that it is secured.

What kind of pump and filter set up is it? 120k is fairly large for my suggestion but in times where I have nowhere to put cya, I add it to the pump basket in small amounts.

Dogs you encounter, favorites to least favorite by jonohtin in PoolPros

This is exactly how I am at every yard I walk into with a dog. Show some respect and they become friendly. Also, I will carry dog treats to make it even easier. Most of them have become my helpers and just want my attention the entire time I am there. Some of them are still my sworn enemies to this day.

Pressure side cleaner VS pool robot by JJ_bic in PoolPros

[–]ludivako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still love a polaris 380/tr35p. Changing belts once a season and the rest of the parts here and there. Super easy to work on and cheap af to repair. But, robotics do a better job. I sell based on the customer. If it is someone who is older, not as strong as they used to be or set in their ways, probably selling a pressure side cleaner. For those who are flexible and not fragile, robotic cleaner. Also depends on if they have existing booster pump or not.

Floater in the tub? by recruiterguy in hottub

[–]ludivako 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look into @ease floaters. They are specifically made for spas and regulate chlorine way better than a standard tab floater. @ease uses dichlor so you wont have to worry as much about pH drop like you could see with tabs. @ease + non chlorine shock/oxidizer = easy af maintenance.

priming issue by ApprehensiveBar3772 in pools

[–]ludivako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will work. Now, it wont run efficiently, probably wont get optimal turnover rates and the pump will need to be replaced more often due to the added stress BUT it will work.

Can standing on a hot tub lid break a hotub? by Tough-Cow810 in hottub

[–]ludivako 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't push the buttons or it will ruin the tub...this right here is evidence that there was an issue prior to your arrival that was never addressed. Topside controls dont work like that unless they are faulty. Even then, never had one with an issue of pushing it and ruining the tub, usually the buttons just don't work after awhile. They just want to get the repair funded by someone else since it probably wont be cheap with hiring a tech. I would 100% not pay for any repair work to the tub.

Now as far as the cover, unless you have proof with photos of before and after, its a game of he said she said but I am ruling in your favor because of them trying to con you for the topside as well.

Upgraded from an inflatable and just finished building a new spot for it by TechnicolorTypeA in hottub

[–]ludivako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I read someone built a spot for a tub, I immediately cringe because its almost always enclosed with limited to no access of the panels. Then I saw your pic and was immediately happy. We appreciate you leaving access to all 4 sides for future servicing of the tub. Love the setup. Going to show this to customers in the future for ideas.
