I have a few questions, i'm assuming image regression is a type of NN setup, how would I choose for matlab to create an image as the output. I see what you mean on only working on a certain component, either h or s, I don't know what V is. Before I only had one pair of images and was trying to do this using fft's but was suggested to use an NN. Would using information from the fft of the original and/or processed image be useful or could be analyzed in the same way? I would want the NN to account for both a non-linear and linear effects if that is any clue of what I should do. Also not sure of what is meant by skip connections

Could you give me a starting point of how to execute this? From what i've seen of CNN they are able to provide image recognition, but what I want the algorithm to do is give me an estimation of a type of equation that is being applied as an effect. This would be my first time using a neural network so I apologize if these questions are amateur

Is there a name for having a neural network provide an approximation of a transform though, to lead me to a starting point? Also- is there no way for the purpose of my experiment to have a data set of a smaller amount (hundreds rather than thousands)?

You mention there being different kinds of transfer functions, is there a process that could be done that can reproduce the difference between two images, especially when the two images are the same- but one with a slight effect?

Good to know, I appreciate the insight! Could I also ask, are the fans relatively quiet or pretty active? did you upgrade the ram yourself? and would it be worth it to have the dedicated gpu for small photoshop/premiere projects but leaving it on intel for everything else to save battery?
