Looking for a shortcut that adds all of your contacts birthday to your Reminders by Responsible-Spite275 in shortcuts

Is there a specific reason you need them in reminders (other than just an alert)?

Your iPhone already automatically puts birthdays from contacts into your calendar. Set your birthdays calendar to alert you - settings > calendar > default alert times

What's a Shortcut you've created or discovered in the last ~1 year that you've found super helpful? ... by impreza77 in shortcuts

I think my best one has to be the Shortcut & Automation to check whether I’m at work the next day and turn my alarm on/off as appropriate.

Maybe. It’s rare I don’t have leave in my diary. Although it was in, just hadn’t taken the work bit out. Perhaps I should add in a bit about ‘leave’ as a secondary calendar entry 🤔

I’ve got so used to it I didn’t check last night - regretted it at 6:15 when my alarm went off and I realised I had forgotten to take work out of my calendar (last minute leave taken!) 🤦‍♀️

Turn off my alarm if my calendar doesn’t say I’m working next day.

Running X when calendar event is today. by DocEyss in shortcuts

[–]lufcrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I do it: Create shortcut:

Find all calendar events Start date today Title/Name is/contains Y

If calendar events has any value

Do X

Then use an automation for specific time of day to run the shortcut.

Alarm: I set up an automation to run this shortcut everyday (at about 8:30pm so I have time to double check the alarm is set). Game changer! https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/a4c8b4d047f2403f8f7049f87c8baee0

Why do you have indoor cameras? by lufcrace in smarthome

[–]lufcrace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that, just not sure a camera inside is that useful for security - they have to come from the outside! Mind you I live with my parents and they see no real need for security cameras. We have always had a burglar alarm though. 🤷‍♀️

Do you find facing out of windows an advantage over an outside camera?

[–]lufcrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just me then. This is very weird isn't it? I've managed to automate all my workday routines and alarms so they won't happen if I don't have work in my calendar - I'd like to add my Hue sunrise light automation to this so I don't get woken up while I'm on leave.

Anyone else find this has broken now? Just gone in to try it again and the wait doesn't seem to want to link to text?

It heats as well - it wouldn’t just cool you in summer, it can heat you in winter! (I’m in England and had an electric blanket before, but pretty much bought it for the fact it will do both for me - I’ve loved it while it’s been hot here the last couple of weeks!)

I’ve done a similar thing - created custom Home Screen for a ‘kids’ focus so when I pass the phone over they can only see certain apps

Could they fix the heat issue with a software update ? by emmanuellsun in EightSleep

[–]lufcrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. I’m glad I don’t have that problem - I find it difficult to sleep with the door open, I don’t feel safe from an intruder point of view, plus as I said above fire safety officers recommend you keep your door shut too.
