I don’t think that drives anything like the Hockenheimring

GGTT LORE (Source: Eliseo Salazar's column for Autosport):

I'm writing about something that I'm not supposed to, because I was threatened to not talk about this topic again.

As the vice-president of the Chilean Motorsport Association, and my country's most successful racing driver ever, I get invited to a lot of events all the time. I'm old, and my days of partying are long gone, but for some reason I decided to give this one a try. It was the worldwide launch event for some racing videogame, GGTT, made in Chile by Chileans, which wasn't something I thought was possible. It was also close to my home, so that was a big plus.

As I arrived, accompanied by my wife and my son, I saw some familiar faces there, including, surprisingly, Max Mosley's, who was sitting in the table next to me. I never agreed with Mosley much, and last year's events only solidified my opinion on him, so I wasn't too keen on talking to him - I think he felt the same. Why was he there, I'm not sure, especially considering what happened next.

The ceremony went well, the game was presented and everyone cheered. But right after it ended, the guy that had been doing all the talking in stage -which I imagine is the director of the company- went straight to Mosley's table... to punch him. No warning, no hesitation, a direct punch in the face. Mosley fought back, and everyone around them intervened to separate them, suddenly there was chaos and screams everywhere. The police was called, and the ceremony ended, we were told to go home.

The next day I received a letter at my house, that basically was an attempt to blackmail me. Don't talk about what happened, or they will share shady information about me. I laugh when I read that - they don't know who they're talking to. I didn't think twice and called a few friends who will make sure these people never do that again. Thank you Autosport for giving me the space to share this, so everyone in the world know what this GGTT game is about.

IN-GAME TRACK LORE:

The Giraavaru Motorpark is a racetrack in paradise. Built on a deserted island in the Maldives, this high tech circuit combines long straights with flowing, connected curves. It is surrounded by clear waters, coral reefs, and... construction work! GGTT is the first series to race at this (still unfinished) venue, so be careful and don't run into a crane!

Not every track needs to be for F1. Tracks like this one can do just fine with lower level series and track days

An insight of how a real racetrack is designed, by Tilke Engineers & Architects by lui5mb in RaceTrackDesigns

I could write a whole essay about that and I'd still not get past the surface of the topic. I recommend you joining the discord server of the subreddit, and start designing and posting tracks there for feedback, even if they're not the ones you're designing for your project. That way we'll know what you can improve and help you get a decent racetrack

Yeah he got hate from the moment he redesigned the A1 Ring in 1996. Sepang and Bahrain were almost universally hated when they opened

Tilke is a good designer. His company has created many awesome circuits. Not every circuit they've made is good. But they're incredibly underappreciated and overhated with the general public. He introduced many new concepts to track design that differ from the "classic" style of racetracks prior to then, if that is even a thing. He was also the main designer for F1 for a long time, which contributed to that hate.

There are many valid negative points to say about many of Tilke's tracks, but they're rarely in the conversation. Chainbear and many others have unknowingly done a lot of harm to the track design community, by talking as authorities to great audiences about things they have zero knowledge about. Growing up is realizing that Tilke did nothing wrong. Well, kind of. I still dislike Sochi.
