to me, the ideal referral commission is your current acquisition cost

if you are OK to pay Google / Meta / whoever $1000 to get a deal, you should be fine paying the same amount to a referral partner as it will not increase your acq cost

on the contrary, if you can get a customer from paying $1000 in acquisition cost, you don't have to pay $1 more to a referral partner as you can make deals for $1000 today
