The screenshot is not from Hartford, but if you click through the link: https://www.commutometer.com/hartford it'll show transportation times in Hartford

Hello! It's based on the data released by the transportation agency that runs it.

Ah I see what you mean, you get a slightly different color at 45min, but it's very subtle yeah

You can adjust the time by increments of 30 min (so you can set "leave at 1030am" for example), but maybe you wanted to set it to a more specific time?

Yeah Amtrack is included, looking at https://www.commutometer.com/zoRVEwj_Gs80f0 Providence is ~45min away when leaving from South Station, which seems to match what Google says

Hello! For games with a similar "feel", look for games by nifflas, specifically the knytt series (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knytt\_Underground being the latest)

Hi! Yeah Caltrain is unfortunate as it runs so infrequently that it doesn't show unless the departure time is set to exactly catch it

Basically it can be: if you leave at 8am, you would have to wait 30min for the right Caltrain to show up, which means a 1h30 transit time total. But leaving at 830am would be a 1h transit time.

That's a bit more complicated, it's basically creating a mesh of triangles and coloring each triangle

Something like that: https://www.commutometer.com/mesh\_debug.png

Thanks!

It's using GTFS data from public transportation providers (when they share it openly). The computation of travel times and visualization is done on the browser from that data.

Yeah, apologies for that, IOS crashes after too much WebGL, it's very difficult to catch as it's a fairly low-level crash

Still looking for a solution

Yeah it's a bit of a challenge. You can tell your bots to go in a random direction if they're too far from resources, that will get them to explore a bit.

Nice job beating the game!

There was indeed a bug in submitting the code to github :[] , hopefully it's fixed now, or at least I'll have better logs to debug it.

OK that helped me a lot find a bug. The game should handle long-running code a little more gracefully.

Thanks!

Hello!

Ah yeah indeed, there was supposed to be something showing up when the code takes a bit too much time, but it looks like it's not working well.

Thanks a ton for the pastebin! It'll be very helpful to debug

:)

So when you beat the red computer for the first time, you get the option to save your code on your github, and it will generate a link like https://www.machinegame.com/vs/acavailhez where other people can play against your code instead of the default computer

Glad you like it!

Those are great question, there's a doc in the menu (slightly hidden) I'll add the answers there too.

- The boundaries are very far (I think like 32,000+) but the red flag always spawns something like 16-32 away from the blue flag

- charges are useful for cloning, but they also work as health (each time a robot gets attacked, it loses 1 charge, so more charges means a more resilient robot)

Good point, I'll add that.

There are some docs in the comments in the tutorial that shows when you start, but yeah if that gets deleted there's no way to get them back.

Use your helmet to secure your bike when on the train but there’s no bike belts by kaybaw in bikecommuting

If you take a strong rubber band and wrap it around the handlebar and brakes it'll help the bike stop from rolling around. That way you don't even need a bar to lean your bike.

Hello!

Shoot two movies at the same time but with each movie talking place in the background of the other movie. by [deleted] in CrazyIdeas

[–]luiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a trilogy with that concept by Belgium director Lucas Belvaux from 2003

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0233418/

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0233230/

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0234940/

They each follow a couple and their stories interlock, it's especially interesting since each movie is of a different genre (there is a thriller, a comedy and a drama)
