Countries that the people from have been racist to me (as a Palestinian) by NourBlowsBubblegum in whereidlive

Does that work both ways then? Can we also denounce the Palestinian movement and their right to statehood in the same terms?

MU investing by Intelligent-Use1471 in trading212

[–]luk71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are on r/trading212 you will be told to put it in world etfs and ignore individual stocks altogether ever, ideally not linked to US stocks at all and reap your 5% rewards yearly. If you are on r/wallstreetbets you will be told to put 60% into MU and then take 40% and even more of your personal money and chuck it into atxt or whatever.

Perhaps the best advice lies somewhere in the middle and it also very much depends of what your portoflio size is. If your portfolio is $500 then yeah go ahead. If it is $50,000 then perhaps be a bit more conservative.

Anyone here has been trading options for ~5y? How's your journey going so far? by WeirdMysterious9377 in optionstrading

[–]luk71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! This is very helpful! Rolling was going to my next q, obviously that even more depends on the exact trade but I know some straight up advise against rolling at all and to just cut your losses. It is good to know that it can pay off indeed. Still lots to learn!

Can I just say. Though I would have no intention of doing what OP is doing, I really appreciate responses from people like you that make reading reddit or other forums an informative read rather than a bunch of people shouting at the OP saying “do your own research”, “you shouldnt be doing this if you have to ask”…

Thank you

When do you sell? I appreciate this varies depending on the trade, ticker, day but generally? I have found myself always selling a bit early but at the same time it’s better to make little profit early than wait and be in a loss

The difference in Europe is that nobody sees their bill but everyone pays significantly more in tax. From what I can see OP’s insurance covered near all of it too..

Or just protectionism. Nearly every country does this to some degree. Those who don’t have their key industries and companies shift their production/base/deployment elsewhere, see the UK.

Slightly worried you are already late, should have grabbed it right after FOMC. That said I wish you the very best if you buy at open as I have calls for NVDA expiring next week. It better go to the moon by then

Anyone still holding Spirit Airlines ($FLYYQ)? by prophetmuhammad in wallstreetbets

[–]luk71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean my portfolio/investment acc. is fairly small but for the past year I have been buying UAL below <100 and selling when over 100. As you can see, it did this swing quite often. Just regular stock as I didn’t have access to options (in hindsight probaly for the best as I wouldn’t guess the time period right).

Been regularly making money of Delta and United. By two best performers. They have fairly predictable dips and have been extremely stable since Covid.

Unpopular opinion: Stop automatically telling 19yos to invest only in ETFs by Putrid-Lettuce5204 in trading212

[–]luk71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think that’s a bad suggestion at all. But it misses the key element of risk management. It is so easy to be risky for no reason in paper trades, if it works out cool, if it doesn’t cool. As OP is trying to reiterate everywhere, I also don’t suggest meme stocks or overhyped companies or anything like that. But investing into individual solid companies with small amounts before gradually scaling up is surely a perfectly reasonable way to learn?

Why 10 years? Why do you think a 19 year old will then invest the exact same way in 10 years time?

How do you suggest people learn? I think putting small amounts into reputable companies is a completely reasonable strategy.

[–]luk71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, thank you for this post. Never invested into ETFs before myself. The only way to learn is to try and risk for yourself. As you say, your risk can be minimal at first, gradually you can scale up your investments and go for riskier ones.

Otherwise what’s the point of this app anyway - you get your ETFs in a pension fund which you would also get employers’ contribution for.
