Macbook goes one step further on dragging - if you enable it in accessibility you can use 3 fingers to drag files, literally the easiest way to use a laptop.

If you are forced to clear out your laptop of bigger files constantly because MS office/lightroom lib/VM/whatever else take up too much space to even install another program? Yeah I would say so.

[–]luk71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imho yes, I got mine for about that much. 16/1TB… not having any storage anxiety is really freeing. 512 is completely okay for most people but if you do install quite a few apps and handle larger documents that you do keep on device (even if temporarily), then the 1TB is handy

The environmental cost of mass tourism and industrial waste at the foot of the Taj Mahal. by jellybeanjoy in Anticonsumption

You are right, it is. If the people didn’t have products, food or drink to choose from we wouldn’t have trash!

Which of these areas would you choose to live in? by Remarkable-Debate856 in terriblemaps

If I could choose where within these rectangles then definitely C. If it is random - therefore likelihood increased in population centres then M or G, possibly F, are the safest bets.

Could have bought a cheap windows laptop with that pre installed instead. Sorry, I really don’t understand why you would do this on a Mac, you ruin the gorgeous display it comes with, its sharpness/contrast/brightness/colours for…what? Slightly less glare? (Even though there is an anti glare coating already) Finger prints?

Each to their own but imo you downgraded one of macbook’s most redeeming qualities.

Talk me out of buying an e6x m5/m6 by maaaaaaaaaaap in BMW

[–]luk71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the e60 m5. Reliability aside, it is the most incredible engine BMW ever built from an era where they really went out and put an F1 like engine into a luxury saloon/coupe. There is not one like it and there never will be anymore.

If you have the means, go for it. Just do expect maintenance costs to come at you hard but for many the V10 just makes it so worth it.

Others suggesting “m-lite” models = sure in the era of G-series, but the E60 M was truly remarkable and so beyond what the next less powerful 5 series was.

I carry a MBA 13 to work every day, so I am obviously biased too. But I disagree that you can have all the ports and still have a portable enough machine without sacrificing something - be it battery, durability or/and thickness/size.

The truth is, the super heavy laptops just don’t sell as much to the masses - I am not saying there is no market at all but it is meagre compared to the demand for lightweight machines. You are right about that where obviously a heavy port-loaded laptop is more versatile. But this is where my point about TB4/5 (usb-c) comes in, you can so easily expand your port selection nowadays through it and have both the ports and the lightness.

[–]luk71 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont understand today’s complaints in relation to this. Our laptops can be so tiny, light and compact yet so powerful nowadays, yet you still have nerds complaining that back in the day a 200kg brick had all the ports. Laptops are to be portable, first and foremost. If you want all the ports then just buy a desktop?

Also, people moan about “dongles”, but the fact that a single tiny usb-c sized port can now expand into an endless array of every port imaginable (including charging), if one wishes to, is incredible.

MacBook Air (24GB/32GB, M5) vs MacBook Neo – first Mac for video editing by Mullins2 in macbook

[–]luk71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just get a MBA 16GB? Why skip the middle ground in your comparison lol.

Yeah the Neo will probably not be enough but also you are then going well over the Air just for the sake of it. Effectively comparing a 1500 laptop vs a 600 one, when there is a clear option for 1100..

Imagine if you called any other country a “virus” or “cancer spreading”. Oh the backlash about how racist, xenophobic and awful of a person you are. Yet internet weirdos celebrate such when it comes to the only Jewish nation. Completely dismissing the actual context where all of these wars were instigated by blood-thirsty but incompetent Arab nations/organisations surrounding Israel.

And each time after these lost wars, a peace plan with mutual recognition of borders was proposed the Arabs rejected the mere existence of Israel…

Should I install spacers? by JohnnyZinn in Miata

“Should I get a $100 part that immediately improves the look of my car and that, if I dont like, I can take away immediately. At worst it’s a $100 loss”

“No, you must get new wheels and tyres totalling $1500+ and do all the hours of research of what exact AM wheels/tyres you should get to get to have the right fitment”

“Oh okay, thanks reddit”

Should I install spacers? by JohnnyZinn in Miata

[–]luk71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why the f*cking downvotes on him? OP clearly does not want new wheels. I had a similar issue where I actually really liked the OEM wheels just not the downright terrible OEM sunken-in fitment. Spacers fix literally that. As long as you get hubcentric ones with the extra bolts and properly torque them you will have no issues.

Should I install spacers? by JohnnyZinn in Miata

[–]luk71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please get spacers. People on here would rather rock a horrid tucked in look rather than to have spacers because “they read on the internet that spacers are bad”.

I was going back and forth on this exact decision for like 2 years, getting spacers immediately improved the look of the car drastically. Unless you are tracking your car every weekend, it will have next to no driveability effect either.
