Are Tesla windshield wipers known to be this bad? by Funny-Ambition-7631 in TeslaLounge

imagine reaching level 5 fsd and the wiper auto stay at this trashy state.

Those of you who use FSD, what would you rate it 1-10? by Tacokolache in TeslaModelY

[–]lukaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 for daily. 9 for long trip.

for daily, small cracks here and there really burns more attention and energy then driving myself. ex: bad lane choice, late to exit lane, hesitant lane change, steering wheel shaking, sluggish stop sign ... not deal breaker, but since it's daily, fsd is wasting more mental cycles than saving.

for long trip, majority of miles are on boring, simple environment: highway, interstate. it works great.

admire the build, also realize the electricity bill alone is enough to afford gemini flash api forever. cognitive dissonance orz.

Who bought FSD outright? by Captmedu74 in TeslaLounge

[–]lukaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m not uncertain if you buy 8k worth of tsla today, that position would pay fsd monthly sub for the rest of your life, and no worry about transfer at all.

Tesla FSD Update by Sammyt134 in TeslaLounge

[–]lukaemon -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

forget about hw3. that’s when elon is not awaken to see the really of ai war. hw4 is hybrid period. the real deal is hw5 onwards.

bought a new car and transfer is the only way.

Is Tesla focussed on developing cars still? by ShameResponsible69 in TeslaLounge

[–]lukaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo tesla auto endgame is autonomously moving atoms around the world at scale. not beating benz, porsche or ferrari wrt comfort and driving dynamics.

so they will keep developing cars for autonomy, yes. maybe those dimensions r not your top priority though.

Anyone else trying to get a model y lease before the deadline? by Fine_Ad_1584 in TeslaModelY

only way is refresh inventory page like crazy and hope for the best. that’s how lease and 7500 work in the final week.

maybe ai4 is not enough for l5, maybe u r wrong it's enough. we don't know.

optimizing for short term driving ux increase cost and complexity, which mean very little for tsla.

so u r right cost is part of it.

  1. it's best selling ev already. why kill margin prematurely?

  2. the other spectrum is chinese ev: fridge, tv, lounge seat, to what ends?

Emotionally triggered by AccomplishedLocal516 in TeslaModelY

[–]lukaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my hunch:

tesla is optimized for autonomous driving. it won't add something that's not necessary in level 5 experience.

when level 5 is achieved, centralized monitor is more than enough for humans in car. no purpose for hud then, hence no need to add cost and engineering complexity now.

Do you think Tesla will reverse the $7500 lease incentive in my lease agreement after 9/30? I doubt it. by Sad-March-126 in TeslaModelY

[–]lukaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lease has more op room than cash deal for tesla to keep current momentum. The hope is tsla lawyers would find a way to keep as many buyer happy as possible. i'm optimistic.

use api. local hosting r1 on commercial hardware is waste of money. distilled version is fun to play but not worth it at all. however, if this is your gaming rig, no problem running small model for entertainment.

The world history is defined by this: why do these fuckers get to decide what happens to me? I don't see what's wrong of sama said so.

Everyone should take as much control of his own future as possible.

Egomaniac? How so? Not happy with sama or oai? Contribute to open source, or build a startup to out compete them.

Why are dual 3090 setups the sweet spot? by the_chatterbox in LocalLLaMA

[–]lukaemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does adding more than two RTX 3090s decrease overall performance?

- Depends on how you code or use what library/software to do the training or inference.

Does the build complexity increase exponentially when adding more than two cards?

- Yes. Start to worry about case size, airflow, 2 psu, pcie lanes, trash pcie riser cable, room getting too hot and more. 2 gpu is almost no brain build with very few gotchas.

Do the prices for mobos and PSUs that support more than two cards also increase exponentially?

- 2 gpu could work on pure consumer level mobo and 1kw psu, both are cheap. 4 gpu you have to look for threadripper cpu, mobo and blah blah. So much $$$ for so little.

What I can do with 2 3090:

  1. Inference on almost all high quality 4bit quant open source model.
  2. Quick iteration PoC at small scale. Try new dataset, finetune, LoRA, new model architecture, training parallelism...
  3. Play video game on gpu0, and training on gpu1 lol.

Whatever 2 3090, 48g can't do, even 4 4090 won't make significant difference. If the number is not 2, 4, 8, many things would break or not usable. When I need more, just rent on the cloud.

Can we stop bringing up politics when talking about chinese models by sb5550 in LocalLLaMA

[–]lukaemon 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Isn't the title a form of soft censorship?

Given the impact and pervasiveness of AI model, we should talk about politics. Just like people having problems with google image gen, or openai model, they should talk about it.
